I'm screaming in my heart over that final page.
The fact that these last few chapters have been so cathartic in just seeing Sheena and Mimi be happy and putting the reality of their situation on the back burner for a bit, only to drop those three words is .....this was never going to end well and I frankly am not equipped to deal with it when that happens.

But Mimi being so frank about her and Sheena's relationship, even to the point that Omi-sensei can't help but get swept up in the idyllic nature of it, is necessary. A story of war and children sent to die requires moments of sunlight in between the blackness, and even as it signals more sorrow on the horizon, it's important to remember why they're doing this at all.
To protect things like the ability to love.
And Mimi, knowing darkness and isolation and violence and nothing else for so long, to be so fully all-in on what she's found in Sheena, is heartening. She might have saw her mother at first, but they've moved well beyond that, and I can only hope that it strengthens them and those around them, and doesn't hinder them in the coming strife.

This series is just too good, and as unprepared as I am for what will surely be tragedy sooner than later, I am grateful that it's being continued and translated with such care.
So thank you for what you do in bringing this to us.

Surely they won't send Shiina to the front lines, right? Like, girl can't fight at all, and by all means she's proven to better serve their cause by just healing people.

How rare and/or essential is healing magic? It's been a while so I don't remember if the story explained it or not.
Seeing how if using healing magic well enough = not sent to front lines, it should be highly competitive position to fill, but since there's only 1 person at the school and looks like they don't teach it in class, it might be very rare?

iirc Shiina's magic in particular is very rare, and the only other person we know who had the same kind was Mimi's mom. And as far as I can see, she's the only student who's specifically called to help heal students that return from battle.

Hmm, seeing how Sheena has her own healing magic story thing going on, Mimi is immortal and Airi already lost Seiran, I feel like nobody should die. Interesting what type of suffering does the author have in mind for our characters.

Hmm I wonder why they named the chapter "Mama". :thonk:

Is it time for Sheena to disappear, just like Mimi's mom?

Oh I don't like that... It's so doomed

It's just.. you kinda forget they're at war and the soldiers are children sometimes, too much fluff you forget all the negative stuff happening

the author is LITERALLY giving signs that this car is going to crash, but I'm just gonna stand still and brace it :meguuusad:
