Hmm I've been seeing threads of these from a certain Cambodian basket-weaving site and decided to straight up go read the latest chapter. From what I gather from this chapter alone is

Jeegus. Given the context and what the MC is thanking the dude for, this final panel is probably the creepiest innocent-looking smile with shoujo sparkles/bubbles I've ever seen.

I do like that the gang-rape was carried out in a realistic and non-arousing style, rather than the pornified version where Ichika would have gotten into it.

@NovaXII

What she needed was proper guidance on what she was doing was wrong. Are there no caring/responsible adults in this manga?

Ichika's father actually tried to give her guidance earlier, although he didn't know the full extent of what she was doing. She didn't bother taking it.

Honestly, It's pretty strongly implied in her chapter that her behavior toward Kanae is a case of someone who's been abused/bullied themselves turning around to do it to someone else, Cycle Of Abuse style. (There are some things in that chapter that strongly indicate her situation in middle school was a bit like Kanae's, and she's trying to change that in high school, much like Kanae.)

I swear, everybody in this manga needs therapy, except Hiroshi. But Hiroshi's the one who murders Kanae, so he probably will need therapy after a certain point.

Seems like the teachers/School don't give any fucks about the bullying that is happening.

That's not too uncommon in reality, and fiction reflects that. American "Zero Tolerance" policies in schools have both the aggressor and anyone who stands up to them getting the same punishment, because it's too much of a headache to sort out who's actually in the wrong. Reporting an incident often gets retribution from anyone who was with the bully against the "snitch", and even if a teacher directly witnessed the incident, it's much easier for them to not make a big deal out of it. I've heard Asian cultures stack another layer of "keep your head down and don't make a fuss" on top of all that.

@EaterOfBooks 100% agree about basically everything you said. Considering the author also does rape doujins I was wincing at the idea of it being played for titillation, but the fact the entire thing was (at least to me), just portrayed as being horrible and mostly skipped over with us only seeing how mentally destroyed Ichika (and frankly Narumi, most likely, given how appalled he seemed about the entire thing once he really understood the gravity of the situation) made it feel less exploitative.

I sort of hope Kanae manages to survive, not for her, but just because poor Hiroshi seems like the only entirely decent person in this story and he really doesn't need to have his career ruined/possibly get traumatized over killing her. Not that we know WHY he does it yet, but considering what we've now seen of Kanae, I can't help but think there's a defensible reason.

I think the person I feel most overall sorry for at the moment is Narumi. Ichika in no way deserved what happened to her, at all, but considering how vitriolic she has been ever since her first appearance (IE, bullying the hell out of two girls for literally zero reason) it's harder to be fully sympathetic. Narumi actually participated in raping her, but the read I've gotten on him is a basically decent kid who's gotten in with a bad crowd, who hadn't thought out the actual consequences of what he was asking for when he tried to help Kanae. Not that he doesn't deserve any of the blame, but the guy seems to genuinely care about Kanae, who for one reason or another, just doesn't appreciate it. I dunno, the whole story so far is just tragic.

And yeah; If you've ever heard the phrase "Can't you read the room?" in manga/anime, one of the ways it's used is to blame bictims of bullying for fighting back, because they're the ones who are disturbing the order of things by fighting back. Instead, they're supposed to just show that Japanese spirit and endure it.

@Itsn Not the whole story, but "The Light in a Garbage Dump" extra chapter at the end of v02 is a short backstory of Kanae & Narumi meeting.

Father didn't really do much, all he did was ask if she made up with MC, but I guess he can't really do much tbh. How was he supposed to know that his daughter would end up getting raped? Also it's surprising how easily she was able to get raped. Do the thugs not care about getting arrested or anything afterwards?

I guess it depends on the country. In my public school you would've been easily suspended if you touched another student or took their stuff.

The raping good time was only the prologue; now the real story starts.

This would be believable if it wasn't fucking Japan where practically no crime ever happens - and where crimes get solved the most often.

But EH, stories always need bad guys...

Well, actually there is a lot of discussion on whether or not there really isn't more crime, especially sex crime, that happens but goes unreported due to Japan's high stigma on victims of sexual crimes. Like, victims would rather let their abusers off than out themselves as a victim of rape because that in and of itself will bring shame to them and their families. Not to mention, due to how Japanese law is handled regarding the subject, it can actually be pretty hard to get a conviction even if they did push forward with it. You'd need a lot more evidence and different kinds of evidence than you would in US law.
I think it's getting a lot better over time though.

The brief sequence where Narumi's friends tell him he needs 'practice for when he does it with the girl he likes', he glances nervously towards Kanae and she stares at him dead in the eye with zero remorse for any of this is one of the creepiest fucking things I have ever seen.

@Regilius One thing is Japan's insanely high conviction rate is that Japan doesn't have a presumption of innocence. In court, the obligation is on the defence to prove that the client is innocent, and proving a negative like that is ridiculously hard. Phoenix Wright is a satire, but it's based in some truth.

@Nitouryu Do you know if anyone's uploaded the raws?

I like how sober this discussion is compared to previous chapters where half the people were cheering for this to happend. Did the author really manage to have someone change heart?

Nontheless, any manga which manages to stir up this much emotion probably already reached its goal, I mean, people arent really discussing art or pacing since its so obvious (very high quality) and only bicker about fictional rape.

Well shit
Popping your cherry in a gang rape, watched by the girl you'd like to pop your cherry with, amazing.
I like how Ichika doesn't even as much as make a sound in this chapter, seriously horrid stuff.

I had no idea that Bakaudon started a non-H series that's basically as fucked up as his doujinshi was.
Pretty interesting read so far and this chapter is easily as fucked up as the yankee doujin he did.
