You know I'm not defending this dude but let's not act like vtubers/idols/pure celebrities in general are not aware of these kinds of fans yet they still decide to get into the business.

I'm not trying to blame anyone but I do think anyone going in that business should be aware that it is a business and understand you are the product. Everything about you is commercialized. A lot of people commenting here don't seem to realize/understand that.

At the end of the day these girls sell purity and these dudes eat it up. Are they gross for having some delusion about an idol or vtuber? Yes. But who is selling them that delusion and who is complicit in selling that lie?

Personally I think everyone has some fault in this in hierarchies.

Thanks for the TL.

Not gonna lie, that they chose to do this for the final arc is a little annoying. Yeah, Japanese (and South Korean) fan culture is toxic as hell and should be confronted in their media much more directly and critically but that isn't gonna happen here.

No.

Just because they exist is no reason to not get into the business at all. It's like not joining a sports team because there are hooligans.

You seem to be confusing understanding something as agreeing with something.

It's a lie known to all involved, which means it's more fiction than a real lie. Or real life. Sometimes that comes with a contract to not have a personal relationship, but not always. Outside OF and the like, that fiction doesn't tend to involve any kind of relationship other than fandom or friendship. There's a hard limit it's expected that fans will not cross.

Ummmm, what the fuck?
Are there actually people who think like this?
Because there is no excuse to think that you, a random person, have a say in someone else’s life in ANY capacity. Let alone their love life!

What I hope for the next chapter is that Nina shuts the door and call the police, while protagonist gets back home quickly and give the creepy coworker a good punch in the face.

Howdy y'all, Kiwi here

I won't leave you hanging for long on this chapter, but I did want to space them out just a little bit.

You probably heard about the DMCA wave on MangaDex recently, and while it didn't hit this series (or 4 of our other 5 series) it did take out Ballpark, which was kinda what I themed the group around. Obviously I don't want to stop working on it, but I can't do that here.

We're looking at other options, but as of now we're just kinda stuck. If you follow Ballpark at all and want updates on it and the process, join the discord. In fact, if you follow any of our series join the discord, because we might move off MangaDex entirely at some point. Not sure on that though.

Thanks a lot for the translation and for the info as well! Appreciate the effort and I'll see you guys on discord then cuz I follow more of your work and for it to all just stop, I can't have that T_T

Not all vtubers are idols, they're in the business of entertaining, not "selling purity". Some may choose to also play that angle, doubling as idols, but not all. For example, one particularly well loved vtuber is a single mom who is using vtubing as a way to work from home and spend time with her daughter; that daughter didn't come from nothing, there's no purity to be sold for her.

It's also a MAJOR taboo among fans to dig into the real life person behind them unless the vtuber themselves reveals it. A big part of why people choose to even be vtubers is to maintain a barrier between their professional life and their private one; this sort of experience is supposed to be the exact sort of scenario that gets avoided because there's supposed to be no connection between the character and the person behind it.

No, mc was remembering what happened at his last job. He left because his bitch ex basically twisted it and made it seem like he was the one who cheated and not her. He was surprised when the woman at his new job didn't automatically assume.
Yah was my bad, i thought his flashback was about the creep

Hm you 2 have given me a wider perspective on vtubers at least. I don't watch them and have no interest in them. I just hear about controversies about them whether creeps or the vtuber themselves causing problems. Other than being easier to start up than an idol I, from a general view, just see it as selling a product. Whether that be the person themselves or merch. And like anything where you're selling your looks or personality you always get creeps, toxic fans, etc etc.

I will stand on the fiction is a lie point. Because that's what fiction is. A lie.

Bruh, if all you know about vtubers are the controversies then you absolutely no perspective on the wider culture and shouldn't be trying to explain it to others.

Hm no I wasn't explaining anything I was giving my own general perspective. And it's not like I'm completely unaware since I have friends who are into them. That's why I can give my own personal viewpoint. But I'm not need knee-deep into it either. And the way my friends treat it. It's not that much different from idol culture.
