Kinda seems like they're blowing their load too quickly by already revealing to everyone how lacking in physical prowess, and how into nerd stuff, the MC is. The tension comes from keeping his secrets, and his secret is already being whittled away to nothing more than "I was once fat", rather than the more broad spectrum of keeping up the facade of being cool and good at everything etc.

Not that anything seems to have changed for him though, despite the revelations.

Hold on, I thought the game was that if Kitazawa-kun could block one ball, he won? He ended up blocking 3.

I'm surprised Ayame realized her feelings so soon. I guess seeing Kitazawa get all dressed up for Higuchi's birthday and even kissing him on the cheek made her realize he might get stolen from her.

Kitazawa gaining the courage to block the balls because he's changed from being a obese kid to being a muscular dude was great. He looked at himself to gain motivation. Then to shoot, Ayame told him what to do! Ayame's cheering helped him focus on what to do.

Shiratori finally learns that he can't get Ayame from Kitazawa by force. Too bad for him, but good for Kitazawa! Now he can laern how to play soccer properly.
