This is where the original story ended. It just followed the source. Not axed, just didn't add any manga original content.

I guess the author got too busy with Anis and Euphie to work on this web novel which is a shame, because while these characters aren't as good as those in MagiRevo, I do like the setting here a lot more.

I really liked this manga, was hoping it would be continued past the end of the web novel. kinda a meh ending, feels like the end of a prologue rather than  the end

This story is practically like a butterfly, short, fleeting, yet beautiful throughout...

Too much left unanswered imo... what happens with the bugs? The other relationship they teased? The queen stuff? Those needed answers, but again, fleeting. Shame.

There sure were a lot of characters who ended up contributing close to nothing to this story, huh?
Admittedly, I do still like this ending, sudden as it is. It feels... fitting, both for this story and these girls in particular, that there would never be an actual end to this conflict, only a new beginning.

The story is really good - that is likely why they adapted it. The art was great. The pacing was OK (good amount of story for 15 chapters).
But I guess it did not attract a following big enough for them to invest in developing the story itself. That is a lot of work in of itself.

Ooooooh that kodoku pun. Finally someone used it. Been waiting on that for a while, lol.

If this was the end Reika gets I honestly wouldn't mind—it's a literal second chance with a blank slate. Ayumi clearly still had very strong feelings for her, and she'd matured enough to handle the worst of the world and protect Reika, too. I can take that.

All this said, though … it's a very disappointing axe, because the buildup was clearly aiming at something grander if nothing else. There's so much to explore. The characters are great. The conflict was fun to follow. The worldbuild and symbols used were intriguing.

I had hoped to see this run longer, but alas.

For anyone wondering, yes, as the TL notes say, that's where the original web novel ended.

3 years ago.

The web novel was already abandoned by the time the manga started. Not axed: it's self published by the author. He just decided to end it there.

The only person to blame here is whoever at the manga company decided it was a good idea to adapt an old unfinished story. At least it was good while it lasted... Oh well.

Perhaps they thought "If the manga gets enough popularity we continue" and perhaps they missed whatever goal they had?

In most cases,yes,the vast majority of all comic adaptations are just short things for promoting the novel(hence,majority of the fans won't even get the full story),worse still are animated series with only one season for the novel.

But this one in particular ends exactly where the self-published and abandoned web novel ends,according others,that was three years ago,so the IP and all the potential to explore further is now going continue to rot.
