Uesugi spends most of his time with those girls after school as well as in school.
He got intimately involved in their family situation and knows a lot about what they want out of life in the future as he's their tutor.
They faced hardships together as that's more of a drama centered work.

Tadano is just a normal guy. He has normal expectations out of life, and yes while he's attentive and a generally good person to be around, he doesn't have too high an opinion of himself. He's not dense in the sense that the girls are hyper coming on to him and he's pretending not to notice like Kodaka. He just has no romantic aspirations towards Komi who's like a god in that highschool or towards Manbagi who has such a vibrant personality.

Personally I think you're comparing apples to oranges, and even then the orange isn't as bad as you're making him out to be.

Wtf. Uesugi mostly needed it spelled out for him. He was only kinda able to figure out by himself that miku likes him but the others took him by surprise. Uesugi isn’t a bad MC but to say he’s not dense is pushing it.
