Also the Yamato wouldn't have had the firepower to blow a chunk that size out of the mountain from a single barrage.

Removing the fact that this chapter was really weird, if we go by Isekai tropes, I would guess that somehow the Yamato will turn into a girl that can shoot shells that can partially destroy a section of a mountain and join the MC’s harem

@hallelujah indeed they did. Served right up to the 90s with minimal retrofit, mainly just some CIWS and missiles. Goes to show just how advanced the ships were. But in terms of WWII, they didn’t actually do much outside of carrier escort and shore bombardment, which was what I was getting at. No real naval combat for them or Yamato.
