Ah, reminds me of other common cases like Belldandy for Verdandi and Youji for George and so on..
Pretty much all names get deformed after they've been converted to jap writing and back.

Edit: I like how she uses Deborane as a measurement unit.

The japanese do not have an "l" sound, the closest sound they have is "r". So, often times, made up names like ルリナ(Rurina) tend to have variants on how a person inteprets it. ルリナ could easily be Lurina, Rurina, Rulina, or Lulina. Personally, I think Lurina sounds best, while Lulina sounds dumb.

It's a good thing to keep in mind if you're gonna read fantasy works with lots of made-up names. Not just R/L, there are other such things, for exmple, as I have complained quite openly about in the Skeleton Knight comments section, one of the characters, Princess ユリアッナ (read Yurianna) is actually supposed to be Juliana, because for whatever reason, the ju in names like Julia, Julie, Juliana, etc, is pronounced yu in japanese. Which is weird considering the japanese actually DO have a ju sound (じゅ), or how Beatrice is pronounced Beatoricche(Bay-uh-toh-ree-cheh)

Japanese is really weird with non-japanese names.
So essentially Key & Peele?

@Syltom
Based on the WN translation, it should be "Different world language" (spoken language) and "Different world letters" (written language).

Isn't it more like the japanese are just really inconsistent with the chosen pronounciation of western names? For example with "Juliana", there are two western pronounciations that I know of, the english "Ju-lee-a-nuh" and the german "Yu-lee-uh-nuh". So when they pronounce it the english way, I'd guess its written "Juriena" and for the german way it's "Yurianna".
As for Beatrice, I've only seen it written like "Beatorisu"

Also, we Westerners are really weird with japanese names^^

15' year old girl with lack of common sense of another world which she understand she dont have it but dont care about it to some extent where other series have lack of common sense but dont get why. =D Good series I was using this as another test if I like Light Novel Series and read up to the current TLed . Y(K)un(m)a is the best. The writing style I wasn't into it all the way but after 10 ch I got into the story.

Though other user perspective I say 50-50 you might like it you might not. If you don't like OP char from the start or should I say Op to stronger OP char then you might not like this series. Yuna is just a char that go with the flow protect what she want to protect and attack/defend against what she don't like.

Can't wait for the manga to catch up so I can actually see the visual of all the people she interact with and all the people and monster she fight with.

Oh, I was not aware Germans pronounce it "Yuliana". An oversight on my part, apologies.

as for Beatorice, in the Visual Novel Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, Listening to the way characters say Beatrice, it is very clear they are saying Beatoricche (Bey-uh-toh-ree-cheh). It is the only place I've heard Beatrice spoken vocally, so I guess making it my only source of information was hasty on my part.

I don't think a summary chapter was necessary when there is only 9 chapters to summarize. Didn't really add much of anything either, despite being from a new perspective.

@Syltom Language and Write Skill, the second i used to believe that was drawing but was actually to write!

@ConstantErasing It is not exactly a summary, but instead a perspective (more like a monologue usually) and their feelings or information, activities, flashback or afterwards of some actions by a third party. Well, this one certainly is more like a summary, but in general iT is not done with that purpose as it will show later(If it goes as the novel).

@Wizardrone I get that usually its supposed to show things from a different perspective, except this chapter didn't actually have a different perspective. A different POV, sure, but the change in POV added nothing new. I usually enjoy when a series shows the same events from multiple points of view, but this was really dull. It's not even close to a deal breaker, but I'm not getting especially good vibes going forward like this. It feels like another series with an interesting premise that will end up going nowhere. I sincerely hope I will be proven wrong, but this is not getting my hopes up.

@ConstantErasing of course and i hope it will be not like that since novel (which I actually read) are better, perhaps not the second or third one as just in the novel but kumanano read the critics of his/her fans and actually improve certain parts afterwards so I hope that it will not get different, albeit in some parts seems hastened I still believe that it will be fine such as the novel is.
