A lot of people were here for the death defying determination of Kumoko under extreme stress and odds. However, since she had her latest evolution, she has pretty much not had to fear anything or really fight for her life anymore.
To be fair to readers, given that the entire first part of the story was based on this experience manga wise, there's no reason to expect anything else and the current arcs are like cognitive dissonance.
This is something I will grant isn't done that well by the manga. The WN and LN are better because they interspersed stories about the "heroes" along side kumoko's underground stories, which turned out to be future events. There were also more lore drops and hints about the state of the world and how broken it was. The result is that you get the sense that Kumoko came out of one shitty situation into another one and continues to apply her classic dogged determination to it. Not only that, she is actively dragging everyone else into it. This happens much more quickly in the WN, while the LN achieves the effect by offering more detailed information about the world. Later on in the LN, something also happens to her that....makes things difficult for her again, compared to the WN. It's still different from the pure adrenaline of the underground arcs, true, but a lot of the same fatalistic themes are there. The manga basically also suffers from slower story progression compared to the quick and fast novel chapters.
I will add this though. Do remember that this series is (or was, it's already completed) quite popular in Japan. A large proportion of readers already read one or the other. So the manga doesn't have to really try and achieve the same feeling. Like those readers you are better off reading the novels first. Though the truth is, this might just not have been the series you expected/wanted, which would have been clearer to you in the novels.
