manga will clearly face the problem when it is time to cover the Shun half of the story

I doubt mangaka ever thinking about covering that storyline. Like Wraith (oni-kun) storyline already was completly skipped, even if it take place in same time as Shiro and co adventure. And, well, Shun story worked only because it paralel to dungeon crawling.

A sentient and sapient spider. God forbid you ever run into someone smarter than you because they can use the exact same logic to invalidate your existence.

I mean, we thought it was a GIRL who turned into a monster spider and was trying to survive. And then it turns out it's just a spider—the whole point of the plot dies at that moment.

And thus, "stupid." One of the necessary components of intelligence is the ability to plan for the future; looking further ahead than the next immediate move is something that stupid people cannot do.

That doesn't really apply to D. Us puny mortals have to plan to survive whatever changes the future holds. But D will exist literally forever, infinitely. Change does not threaten her existence like it does to us, so change means little to her. Even when her slacking off catches up to her and she has to go back to work, it won't matter to her, because there will be another chance to start slacking off again some other time. And another, and another. Infinitely.

A future full of both infinite work and infinite leisure.

And therefore, both infinitely meaningless. So all that matters is now.
