At this point, I'm treating the slut angle like a Nigerian prince scam. Just being baited into believing that it's true while simultaneously being denied the evidence.
It was also mentioned by someone before that some of the actions we've seen, when applied to suggestive situations before could explain what we think we're seeing and what's actually happening.
Some of the flashbacks require Naoto to actually have reliable memories of the events that happened in the past (they're probably not). So if we take some of what happened in this chapter and apply it to what he thought he saw in the flashback, it makes you wonder a bit. Was she smiling gently at the guy at the shrine, or did she have the pissed off fake smile from this chapter on her face? Was she kissing him, or did she grab him by the collar and get in his face?
Flimsy logic, I know. But it does seems like his memories are heavily biased to her being something that she may not of completely been and she was only the sweet and kind girl that he liked.
I guess I was right about the stupid trope of the original "hicky" being a mosquito bite.
