Ngl, I'd rather shadow-sama scans and kyun translations collab on this series instead of having this sniping issue. It would get rid of the conflict and also allow for faster scans due to more people working on the same translation.
Let me be clear, a collab is completely off the table. I prefer working alone.

If you actually look at their release timeline, it’s obvious they were scrambling. The fact that it took them hours to push out 54.2, and then even longer for 55, proves those chapters weren't even ready. They are just lazy and didn't even bother to finish the TL, PR, and ED before rushing a release just to compete.

And that excuse about "planning to drop both chapters at the same time because of the cliffhanger"? It's complete nonsense. If that was actually their plan, why the hell did they upload 54.1 by itself in the first place? It's just a weak cover-up to save face and cover their lazy ass.

束野 (the line is lower)
東野 (the line is higher)

Based on the panel, it is most likely 東野 since the line height almost matches. Also, 東野 is a much more common family name in Japan. Unless 束野 appears before Chapter 55, I’m confident that 東野 is the correct kanji.

You can also try comparing them in Google Docs. I’ve studied Japanese for 4 years, and I’m about 80% sure that my interpretation is correct, if Im wrong then ok.
Japanese is a dead language and your translation is peepee poopoo baka caca. Time to move on. 👨‍🦼

I was going to say they never intend to collab since they never contact the other team before sniping, but they already answered that themselves. They're a one-man army doing it for the "love" of the series, but their love and appreciation for quality only go so far since they think translating from chapter 1 is a waste of time.

Also, it's quite convenient that they decided to snipe the series right after an anime adaptation was announced. Yeah, I'm sure they're doing it purely out of "love" for the series.

An active beef between scanlations on mangadex is not something I have on my 2026 bingo card

When someone 'snipes' a series I compare the quality of the translarion and decide because of that. In this case this translation is simply better, so i'll read this one. So thx for the better work!

Nonetheless sniping will ceap a certain taste to it and I have the concern of both parties sunddenly dropping the work.

Let's see how this unfoalds and if it goes south I'll go sit in a corner and think about what else to read lol

It’s fun how it’s always popular series that are sniped. Never those which are not.

It’s almost as people simply want to build clout over the work of others.

And let me be clear - this is taking advantage over the work of others.

These popular series - which are not being simulpub - get popular because some group took the time and effort to do a quality scanlation work. They start scanning the series because they love it and want to share with others. Then the series get somewhat popular and there’s always some smart arse that decides they can do it better and faster. Then they snipe the series, and, if they are persistent enough, they may put off the original team that was working on it. Then the smart arse sniper gets burnt out and stops scanning the series regularly (or they didn’t get the revenue they expected from whatever platform they are pushing for “tips”). End result is that the series is abandoned. All because someone else thought they could do a better job for a few weeks.

Just go find a decent series and start scanning it from the start.

It's not a taboo from weird ethics or morals, it's practical.

Here is a common scenario. Group A is translating a series. They are trying to do it well, which takes time, especially as they're doing this free and they have other responsibilities (work, school, etc.). Group B snipes for any number of reasons and are faster with worse quality. Group A decides to drop the series. Group B drops the series a little while later. The series is no longer being translated.

This happens all the fucking time. So people don't hate snipers out of some misplaced sense of ethics. They hate it because it almost always results in a bad outcome for readers. There are active series here and elsewhere that have two groups translating, usually because they start at the same time and neither wants to drop it. And it's fine, and no one cares. Coming into a series 50+ chapters in that's being actively translated is shitty because it never helps.

If you didn't think it was a moral issue, you wouldn't be saying "coming into a series 50+ chapters in ...is shitty", because that is 100% a moral argument.

And lets be real, that whole "oh it causes the series to no longer be translated" reasoning isn't actually true, it's an invented narrative to justify a stupid norm. I've been reading Manga online for 20+ years and the only time that a series gets dropped because of sniping is because the original scanlators unreasonably think they have a right to exclusivity and quit when people won't kowtow to them.

Moreover, there are countless examples of manga on this site that have multiple scanlators and are doing fine. So again, the 'it's only bad for audiences!!' idea is an objective falsehood.

--
If someone wants to translate a manga for a hobby, that's completely fine, always, regardless of how many other people are translating it. They don't owe the original scanlators any sort of deference. And if some readers don't want to read a sniper's work that's their prerogative, but it is not their place to tell them to stop or insult them for sniping, and it is wrong of them to do so.

You do realize I mentioned manga that have multiple scanlators and are fine? I also didn't say series getting dropped always happens, just that it is a common scenario. If you haven't experienced it in 20 years of reading manga, I mean good for you I guess. I have. And clearly other people have as well.

And I said it's shitty because again series have been dropped because of it. I guess if the argument is that I'm making dropping a series a moral issue, then sure, it's moral, although I think that's a stretch. If a scanlator drops a series because the original translators want to be the only ones working on it, who cares? I don't care if it feeds their ego as long as the translations are good and it is being actively translated.

As to your last paragraph, it's a free internet, snipers are allowed to do whatever they want. As people complaining about it are too. In the same way that snipers don't owe the original translators deference, neither do readers for the snipers. You can't really expect people to not react. And with 20+ years of manga reading experience, you should also know that this is an extremely common reaction to sniping.
