While I'd much prefer he'd be open about himself, I genuinely appreciate the fact that he can admit that his unwillingness to tell her is born out of fear.

I also appreciate that she sees that he has his reasons and doesn't force it.

It's not exactly communication, but it's a step towards genuine empathy and mutual understanding.

Ayoooo author!
Thats too quick they didnt even hold hands before not gonna skip basics right?

But damn I love Kusunoki! She is such a great character being considerate about MC problems and not asking more until he opens up when he will be ready to tell her.
I wish everyone have a friend like her in their life.

I can't keep reading this garbage. The trope of "I have shit that I can't tell you about" is complete ass. It's a contrived mechanic that's only used to drive meaningless plot. What's the pont of saying anything at all if you're gonna be a spineless little idiot and not actually communicate? I hate when a character drags their feet like this and the other is just like "ok." There's no progress and the author has to forcibly insert it by adding the stupid "oops, I tripped and fell on you" trope.
