Thanks for the new chapter!

I personally have seen cases like this while I was in high school where a girl seems to be kind and sincere for some time to a boy (a friend of mine since primary school) then discovering that the girl is talking shit about said boy, and even said she can make him carry his bag and stuff if she wants to (i.e. make him her lackey; has him under her whims). Fortunately the guy learned of this pretty early and started avoiding this girl and just moved on.
Well my friend just brushed it off because he is not interested in the girl anyway but I guess, for Shizuki, it really had a subjective impact on him and triggered him to change for the better; and fortunately he didn't necessarily become an edgier person. But yeah, there are really mean girls out there, and there are really weak boys so 'results may vary'.

Now we have to know how Kusunoki's personality changed when she entered middle school.
Also other than that, I think it is okay if Kusunoki still wants to be friends with Hebikawa, but I hope Hebikawa will not do exploitative stunts to her just to make her "show her true colors"; it seems that this is how Hebikawa likes to run things on people she is interested in. If things go wrong with Kusunoki, she might make Kusunoki hide back into her shell again, and discourage her from opening up to people again.

Blackmail using the fact that he used to be fat?
I'll chalk it up to teenage insecurity.
It’s more like blackmail the fact that he was very unpopular, fat, introverted, a nerd, and quiet.

There is a not small amount of fear for high school students to have their unpopular past being revealed and sadly a lot of high schoolers are very judgmental.

So Yes it is teenage insecurity but it’s not exactly unwarranted.

I totally get where Shizuki is coming from on everything and he did overhear what she had said to her friends.

But I can also see from this that Hebikawa may not be AS bad as thought. She is still not great, but she makes a great point: she has always been the same he just wanted to see something different. It also seems she most likely doesn't remember what she said to her friends and she can't seem to get why he is avoiding her. She also didn't pry too far into things with him, even if she didn't remember.

Yeah, she still has that air of being mean/rude, but she handled the whole situation better than I thought she would. I definitely don't dislike her as much as I did prior to this.

While Hebikawa isn't a vile person, I still wouldn't trust her. She comes across as someone who treats everything like a business or possibly a give & take relationship. She was in total control of the situation & was the mature person (even though that smile her face irks me). That being said, I really do hope she doesn't mess with Kusunoki to the point that it would emotionally scar her. Thanks for the translations.

Tbh most of his trauma just seems too overblown and self-grandiose. Like what happened to him is such a great injustice to him. And it makes him come off as really pathetic. I'm trying to have sympathy (not empathy because I just can't put myself in his shoes because I definitely would have handled this a lot differently at his age) but it's really hard to not be annoyed at his attitude.
