It's not considered normal and was clearly revolting for everyone around him. Worst part he was forced to do it, since he was an Emperor and need to produce a heir, while being terrified of even teen woman.

You have to see it from Mao Mao's perspective. Mao Mao know that Jinshi is a big shot, but she doesnt know his real relation with the emperor. What if Jinshi impregnated one of the emperor's consort? Even the highest official could be executed in that scenario.

How does that make more sense from Mao Mao's perspective? The whole reason everyone has to be a eunuch working in the back court is because that's the preventative measure to make sure they have no chance of impregnating anybody. So the emperor can rest easy knowing if any consort gets pregnant it'd be from him, in an age without DNA testing.

Back to Jinshi, guy has attendants like GaoShun (who isn't a eunuch btw) and have people cook and dress him, the esteemed military advisor have to bow to him. Regardless of his relation with the emperor, either Jinshi is some crazy bastard who fooled the world with regards to his genitalia and still able to land a job where he's put in charge with all sorts of responsibility. Or maybe the important people all know something the riffraffs don't. If he's indeed the world's greatest trickster, what are the odds that he's doing it because he's looking for an opportunity to impregnate a consort and somehow expecting to escapes death. Or maybe he's simply trusted enough by the emperor to work in the back court while keeping his penis, and if anything happens they'll know it's him and he'll face the penalty then. But that'd be a seperate issue altogether no different than they trusted him but he still set the palace on fire.

What if Jinish impregnates someone? Yeah then it's off with his head. But will the emperor react with: "come on man, I trusted you." or "what the fuck how come he has a penis?! Bring me the head of the guy in charge of castration as well!"

Aren't Jinshi and Maomao like the same age? Isn't it later revealed that Jinshi fakes being a few years older because the eunuch practises where already stopped by the time he was actually old enough for them? That's why MaoMao always notes how childish he acts since he is actually younger than the age she thinks he is?

Maomao is 17 rn while Jinshi is 23. Maomao's height is 150ish while Jinshi is 180ish according to the LN

Maomao is an adult. Someone here said she's 19, which at the very least is roughly correct.

Jinshi's also an adult. I'm not sure about his exact age, but what I will say is that their age difference isn't enough to cause a problem.

That's pretty much as far as I care about it. In the end, they're fictional characters, and can have any age the author decides they have. Unless you believe in the concept of death of the author, in which case you decide.
