So just so I understand is the position of people that defend Nanase honestly that you believe cheating starts and ends with sex?
I really want to know. I mean I'm not defending cheating, but I definitely think Nanase cheat first and more often.
While Yuni was always there for her.
She even recognized she was giving the date Yuni longed for to another girl. She clearly knows what she's doing with Yuki and she's been doing it since before Yuni met Fuuko let alone cheated with her.

I prefer more wholesomeness over toxicity

Nappii. :pepehmm:
Baffled indeed.

May I suggest Jirai Nandesuka? Chihara-san

It's very wholesome, more comedic 4-koma vibe romance.

You guys are really getting all worked up over a fictional, toxic yuri manga.

Just chill and enjoy the toxicity knowing (and being thankful) that this is not your life.

WTH??? How can that count as cheating when there isn’t even an emotional affair involved??? I don’t know why you’re trying to justify Yuni’s shitty move here, but saying Nanase also cheated on Yui by prioritizing her (club) friends and club activities first is ridiculous.

It’s not like everyone thinks love should take priority over everything in their life. If you can’t accept that, just pleeeease break up with them—not cheat on them.

You don't think Nanase is having an emotional affair with Yuki? I'm not even justifying what Yuni did. Just curious why so few people seem to care about how shity Nanase is to her. From the vary beginning she sets firm boundaries with all of her friends accept Yuki. Who she constantly makes time for, touches in intimate ways, and interacts with obvious subcontext. I'm not saying love should be number one priority either, but should you really be doing everything you tell your girlfriend you can't do in public with someone else right in her face and say it's fine she's my best friend. I mean seems messed up to me.

It's almost not worth even trying, because every time someone in this camp comments they try to paint the other person as fully condoning Yuni's behavior when I haven't personally seen that written once.

But, I will say this - Nanase prioritizes her "club activities", and her club friends, and recently even Yuki, over her actual girlfriend constantly. She's completely inconsiderate of the burdens she places on Yuni when she does try to include her - she asked her to go to a different city for that tournament, never once considering how Yuni would actually pay her way there, where she'd stay, eat, any of it.

At the waterpark? Yuki's there too. Oh, and she monopolized Nanase, and Nanase never pushed back on it.

The camping trip? This chapter? Meant to be this big "meet the parents" thing for Yuni? It's the most blatant example of all.

All her friends show up, and she was being introduced as a friend. She posts their matching outfits to social media, all her teammates go buying them, she laments it well after the fact.

She immediately lets herself be dragged off by Yuki, makes no effort to stop her, leaves Yuni behind who's pressganged into making everyone's food around a group of complete strangers.

And when Yuni does meet Mom? Mom's never even heard of her. Not even as a friend; Nanase hid her completely from her family, who know all of uer volleyball friends including Yuki. That right there seems to indicate that Nanase isn't even willing to tell the people closest to her that Yuni exists in her life.

Some precious girlfriend, right?

No one here that I've seen has said Yuni was right to cheat. Stop putting words in people's mouths to make your argument, it's childish. Call Nanase a sad little victim who "made mistakes" all you like, but the author themselves and their narrative make it pretty clear that none of what Yuni did, however objectively abhorrent, didn't happen out of nothing.

And yeah. She should absolutely break up with Nanase. But currently she's trying to prove she can salvage and mend their relationship, after Nanase demanded her back from Fuuko.

Weirdly, Nanase seems to care more about spending time with Yuki than her actual girlfriend now, so maybe Yuni will soon wise up, ditch her, and go save Fuuko from her ongoing fiasco.

Man, you can say Nanase is stupid, ignorant, or a bad girlfriend material. But saying she’s also cheating on Yuni is totally untrue. Girl friendships can be really, really close. Not to mention, as readers, we can see her thoughts. How can that count as cheating? Can you at least tell me your definition of cheating first lol.

So why do you guys keep saying this??? Maybe you know that no matter how ignorant or stupid Nanase is, she’s not as at fault as Yuni—unless Nanase actually is cheating too. And that's really despicable.

I know most people here love Fuuko and want Yuni to be with her. Yeah, why not? That’s the happy ending to me too. Nanase can finally get Yuni out of her life. Unfortunately, Yuni actually wants both of them—this bitch just can't admit it 🙄

Since you seem to not be paying attention to usernames, I'm not the one who says that Nanase's cheating. I don't need to tell you my definition because I'm not the one arguing the point, nor am I going to even attempt to engage with you over where the goalposts should be planted in the subjective game that is "my feelings are most important when determining semantics".

What I did say, is that Nanase's treatment of Yuni for the entirety of the relationship we've been shown thus far makes it understandable (no, that does not mean "pardonable", because apparently I have to reiterate that point every time or suffer one of you putting words in my mouth and twisting what I'm saying) that Yuni would fall into Fuuko's arms once Fuuko went fully on the offensive in trying to win Yuni over.

Nanase is a negligent girlfriend. Full Stop. She's oblivious to Yuni's needs, consistently puts her girlfriend second to everything else, to the point that Nanase's own parents have no idea that Yuni existed until this chapter. Not even as a friend; Nanase said nothing about "the person you'd expect to be super important in their life". Sure, she wants to hide being gay for Reasons Not Yet Clarified, but to not once mention "oh yeah I have a non-volleyball friend! Her name's Yuni, she's quiet but cool!"?
Yeah. Great girlfriend material. See my other comments up and down this thread for other examples of why her behavior absolutely pushed Yuni into doing what she did, reprehensible as Yuni's decision-making and actions were.

I'll say it again in case you didn't bother to read anything else I've said here: Yuni's at fault for cheating. I will never argue against that point, because it's true.

But I'm confused as to why it's totally fine for Yuki to be "really, really close" to Nanase as a friend, but Nanase won't allow that for Yuni, her girlfriend. I admit I can't parse the intent behind your first sentence on whether you agree that Nanase is a dumbass & shit girlfriend to Yuni, but hopefully you see that this is objectively the case by now, given the 34 chapters we've gotten to date.

Well, to make it clearer, we could make some kind of list
(when i say in public, it's their known entourage)

What Nanase does with Yuki in public :
  • skinship (like linking arms, etc)
  • share foods with each other
  • hang out after club (i think i remember that ramen party or something after a match)
  • hang out with her family who are familiar with her (well she's a childhood friend so it makes sense)
  • gifting stuff to each other
  • taking pictures together

What Nanase does with Yuni in public :
  • eat lunch together sometimes
  • hang out sometimes (don't seem like they went on dates very often though) and talk

Feel free to correct, add or remove stuff from it since i'm doing it only on top of my memory.

But you can clearly see that Nanase does a lot less stuff with Yuni than with Yuki : we can actually conclude that Yuni might be a lover but is actually less than a friend, in other cruder words, she just seems like a fuck buddy (since she'd do some more heated stuff in private).
The only reason you would not even say even a word about it to people closest to you, either you are afraid of their reactions because of their strong opinions towards some type of people that your friend falls into (does Nanase's family seem extremely strict, suffocating, micro-managing her friends list and whatnot ? We don't know for absolute certain but from what we can assume just from her nickname, her mother, eh, doesn't seem like she's suffering) or that person is just not that important (can you imagine yourself telling your family you've got a fuck buddy ? or met some random colleague/classmate whatever you exchanged a few words with around some coffee or something)

Also, she didn't even give a heads-up to her parents about Yuni just for camping : who are the ones who knew she'd come ? Volleyball club and Nanase, do you find it normal to not even say to your parents (or anyone organizing, chaperoning something) “oh by the way, i'm inviting one more friend if that's ok” ?
You can be an airhead a couple times (happens to lots of people every once in a while), but when it's systematic towards a person in particular, you'd think it's more disdain than airheadness, no ? Or she is simply not trying despite knowing it.
I don't think Yuni was asking for much : at the start, she didn't even ask Nanase to make a choice between volleyball or her, but because the situation worsened and festered she had to use that ultimatum. (if i remember correctly ?)
But well, i guess since she is an extreme volleyball fanatic, it'd take some time for her to actually change her train of thoughts.

You were the one rushing in, yelling that the guy wasn’t trying to justify Yuni’s behavior. Then pleeeease tell me—why did he accuse Nanase of something she definitely hadn’t done??? I can see he’s trying to make Yuni’s fault seem less bad by claiming that Nanase also cheated on her (and cheated first lol), which is totally untrue. That’s exactly why I think he’s trying to justify Yuni’s cheating.

And I mean it when I say Nanase is stupid. She should have dumped that human shape of garbage when she had found out Yuni was cheating on her.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
It’s Nanase who forced Yuni to cheat—after all, Yuni is a big baby who can’t bring herself to talk about her feelings or break up with her girlfriend, even though she’s unhappy with how Nanase treated her.

Seems this's about all the constructive(ish) dialogue we'll be getting from one another, so I don't see any reason to keep talking past each other here.

Definitely didn't is a stretch she hasn't slept with Yuki, but emotionally she has replaced Yuni in every way. The hug, go on dates, and have both said I love you in public. Nanase even said it at school. Meanwhile her girlfriend isn't even allowed to have brush contact.
As far as first and defining cheating in the first chapter in the locker room Nanase makes her personal boundaries vary clear pushing her teammate off her and telling her that's her personal space. Several pages later when Yuki comes to get her she wraps her arms around Nanase leans against her and beams at her. Nanase leans slight towards Yuki and smiles bag affirming her right to be there. It is implied that Yuni has had several conversations with Nanase and we are given segments of those conversations telling us that Yuni has been prohibited from doing such things because they are things friends don't do and will start rumors. Despite her own opinions on the mater she never once sets boundaries for Yuki. Obviously closer than she is with Yuni. Again not saying Yuni is right just pointing out the hypocrisy of not condemning Nanase just because she hasn't crossed the physical boundary.

Damn, now i'm actually wondering how some people would react as jury/judge :

a woman murdered her husband
immediate logical decision for some : to the green mile with you, a life for a life (after all, you can't be more vile than taking the life of someone else, right ? unless i got my charts of crimes wrong)

However, during the trial, you learn that the husband, while behaving normally with other people, constantly abused his wife : berated her (saying things like for example “you should be thankful i'm even taking care of you, nobody would even deign to look at you as a woman” etc, you get the idea), humilating her, isolated her from her family, her friends, etc, and at times just straight up beating her up. (It can be the reverse, it's simply less common and less documented too). Never letting her out (why bother doing groceries when there's deliveries).

The woman is a completely normal woman also, she isn't a crime lord or gold digger or whatever.
So after a particularly harsh beating because the husband was in particularly foul mood that day, broken teeth, a bone making an unatural shape that he snapped back because he doesn't want to call for an ambulance, he left her like this on the naked ground ; something snaps inside the woman's head, an insidious voice who kept saying “kill him”, for the first time she heeded those words. Next time he approaches her, one of them will die. And in the end, she was the one standing.

So, would you still send her on the electric chair (or guillotine or whatever you want) ? After all, murder with premeditation (she managed to hide a knife under her clothes) is pretty grave ! The husband at that moment wasn't going to beat her, he was going to apologize, so no self-defense argument (the kids will be the witnesses).

Pretty easy case for some people, judging at how they judge Yuni, no ?
(Maybe it's a tad bit extrem to illustrate but it just feels like some people put cheating on the same level as murder, so might as well amp it up)
(Very entertaining debates by the way, dunno if there are other mangas as cleaving as that one, ts group eating gut with the heated comments rofl)
(I should also thank every ts groups for all the works they've done, sorry i'm just lazy to login in md)
