That makes more sense. Though, actually, if a magical girl can be remade at the start, and regenerated from a core, why can't they slap high-density magic, ether, on the scars?

She's really casual about having had serious battles with other magical girls - somehow I feel like both those scars and her obsession with becoming physically stronger might be linked to her sister being known as "the strongest magical girl" (at least according to the rumors that Seiko and Joshua heard).
I wonder if there were some magical girls who considered taking over Sakura's turf, or to just collect on some easy pickings now that she wasn't around anymore to protect the Darkness clan members she protected.
Momo mentioned early on that in terms of magic, she was never a particularly strong magical girl to begin with. So training her body might have been her only option to survive a situation like that, until she had grown a reputation of her own.

1.) In chapter 3, Momo says dark clan sometimes turn into mindless monsters when they suddenly awaken.
2.) When Mikan first showed up, she fully expected the demon that stole Momo's blood to be a large monster, not a human.
3.) A life-stealing demon intentionally embedded itself in Mikan when she was a child.
4.) The scars Momo has on her back and arm are in the shape of claw marks...

Conclusion: Some magical girls must have scarred Momo. 🙃 I'm sorry but this is getting silly.
