Actually, aquariums have had problems with Octopi escaping their tanks to go to another tank that they prefer or to look for items to bring back to their tank to liven it up a bit.

They are quite intelligent creatures...and evidently, they can get bored.

that's why i always feel kinda bad when i see takoyaki and calamari on menus. octopuses are so damn smart that it feels wrong to eat them. the japanese seem to have no such qualms about that sort of thing, though. i think they've gotten (lightly) sanctioned for hunting dolphins and whales, if i remember correctly
