Hiatus? Why? :meguuusad:
The usual. The author caught a "cold"(covid or something), and decided to take a (so far) 5 month paid holliday.

In all seriousness, I suspect that they have long since gotten over any sickness, but knowing japan, they likely crashed because stress.

Late news, but announcement from late July: Ononaka is finally recovering, but after a talk with the editorial department they decided to extend the break so he can resume working in perfect condition.

Hold out hope, everyone!

Can someone explain. It says that series is in hiatus with 53 chapters but here https://coolmic.me/titles/1110 there are 163 episodes. Did they just chop them up in a weird way?
Yup. The "episodes" on coolmic are just the real chapters chopped up into sets of 10 or so pages each. Don't bother, if you really wanna support the official release just buy the volumes from J-Novel club.

The English translation of the original tweet via Google Translate reads differently:

"Ah, I feel really sick.

Even though it's the most important time, I can't draw manga,
I gained a lot of weight due to stress.
I can't do anything I like.

I really hate muttering things like this, but
Please let me vent a little. Please excuse me.

It's really painful that I can't draw even if I want to."

Picking a little at the machine translation, the author uses the word darui (だるい) in the first sentence, meaning feeling tired, heavy, sluggish, which would indicate physical fatigue in context of tweet.

Without speculating too much, to me it sound like the author still hasn't recovered from their illness (probably COVID) and is still dealing with their virus damaged body which is not capable of the heavy physical workload of being a mangaka. They do sound very depressed about the whole thing, understandably so.

I have gotten Covid twice since 2020. Both times I was layed out for about a week. I haven't heard of almost anyone who got taken out for the better part of a year. It's not like it's cancer. This has been a long ass illness.
