@ArpanaR : I think that's his point of "Then it'd be pointless" when she told him to say it himself.

Basically the things he has tried to convey his feelings have never worked (and everyone else doesn't see it either), so he's having her, THE matchmaker for the prince and her mistress, be the one to say it to extra credibility.

@LVLBeginner @ROOR21ROO Liz is an adult by their worlds standards. You can't use our current standards for 'adults' for them. There was a time it was common for women to get married at 14 in the real world. It has to deal with life expectancy and the ages where it's easy to have a child. But long story short, no one in the story treats Liz like a child. She has graduated from apprentice to full fledged mage and works independently and does not have an escort too. (As pointed out in this chapter She does not actually work with Joshua anymore) so even if she's like 16~18, it means in their world that's an adult.

There is also that 16 is still the most common age for females to get married even nowadays, in the USA at least as there are countries where the common is still 14 and some places that, while not common, there are those that get married at 10-12.
So using what we take as common sense would be wrong even if analyzing the situation in the real world. One thing to learn is that "common sense" is wrong most of the times and that just because it seems obvious that something should be in some way doesn't mean that it is like that as they pretty much never are.
