For those who dont want to be spoiled, she doesnt actually hate him in the literal sense. Wait a couple chapters for her to explain it to charlotte

She actually just hates the fact that he always portrays himself as the villain like most readers do. If im not wrong they are actually decent friends and she became good friends with charlotte, but only after the two start dating and Akihito finally doesnt villain-ise himself in every bad situation

They do have history because she knows about his dark past. I dont think theres actually any animosity between the two, but i dont remember fully since its been a while since ive read the LN
i'm curious about his dark past now :thonk:
did he murder someone?

The lion, the witch, and the audacity of this bitch.

I'm guessing this means she used to have a crush on him or something at one point? I dunno, Tsun gonna Tsun.
She's definitely crushing on her soccer-playing cousin, who is also the conduit through which she knows more than most about what went down a couple years back. Am i gonna tell you what that is? Hell, nah. I had to wait through three volumes of the novels. Y'all can wait, too.

This is what we came here for.
The other girls? I have no idea what they're doing, but they probably like him.

This isn’t going to be another one of those “utterly reprehensible character who’s constantly nasty to the mc but has a tragic backstory so all is forgiven and now we’re forced to like them as they become a recurring character” tropes, is it?
When all I wanted was fluffy neighbor romcom with a cute loli for extra fluff sometimes

I cant remember exactly since it’s been a while, but…
From what i can remember, he was orphaned at a young af age. His parents were poor and didnt have the money to raise him, so they abandoned him (and had the audacity to ask him to rejoin their family when they met again, using his biological sister as leverage) and he was adopted by the girl at the start of the manga, who turns out to be charlotte’s mother. He learned skills in english and other things from her and her other “onee-san” caretaker until he was left as a heir to the caretaker’s family, where the head forced him to study to get into a good university if he wanted to be the heir (don’t worry, the bastard has been dealt with). With regard to the soccer part of his dark past, i cant exactly remember everything, but i recall either Akihito or Akira getting injured and a lot of foul play being involved, including the family who “adopted” him and a bunch of other pro soccer players who joined in on the foul play. A lot of bs happened that made him quit soccer, and no ones allowed to talk about it.

Sophia, Charlotte's mom, did not adopt him, but promised him, that they would become family, if he grew up into a respectable man. She did teach him a bunch of things, but the one who adopted him is the father of his childhood-friend-now-step-sister, because he caused the orphanage to go under. He made the orphanage go under right before an important match for Akihito, adopted him, put him under house arrest, so he couldn't play. He did escape, but it was too late. His team was heavily losing and just when he entered the stadium, he saw Akira injure his leg, cuz he was pushing himself to score goals. He kept quiet about house arrest, cuz he "knew they would either ignore it or won't believe it" or something. And because of the guilt that "he made them lose by not showing up", he quit soccer.

Wtf? Why is everyone hating on her? She's obviously on MC's side. She practically told him to stop with the worrying and just get together already.

I swear, y'all get hit with that "I don't like you" and suddenly all the brain cells fly out the window. Kudos to the handful of people in these comments who aren't complete idiots.

Mangadex readers when a female character isn't nice to the MC when he gives no reason to be: 😡

The literacy crisis is real and strong.

I know right. The release schedule is all over the place sure, but you'd think people just look at the images and don't absorb any information even when it's something that's told several times across multiple chapters.

Yep, this kind of thing happens in like every story out there. Many people tend to comment impulsively on a scenario without first stepping back to understand the full context, which often requires some backstory to provide the necessary context.

Very easy to prematurely antagonize a character for whatever action. Another common case is calling an MC/FMC dense without first checking if there is a reason for that seemingly oblivious behavior.
