So two alternative reasons as to why everything went the way it did

1) Henry and Mephisto basically silently agreed to postpone a war, but they both understand war is coming. Mephisto saying that his rank is 5.5 is him saying "you succeeded, but due to bullshit we can't say you succeeded"

2) The moment that he is the same rank as Ameri is going to be a <moment>

On another note, it's interesting to see that the other grandsons are also attempting to rank up to scala, so the race to be next in line for demon king is on, even if the party one seems to have failed his first attempt.

It was really nice to see this because it felt like Iruma was pulling away too far and too fast with the all of the support he's gained from the crowns. Not that I even really mind it, just that I was beginning to wonder what sort of role the other two grandsons were meant to play and whether or not they were "real" competition.

Yeah, it's good to know that the other grandsons are doing something to stay on equal grounds or surpass Iruma (wouldn't be surprised if the other already passed his scala exams with how he is,) so that we know it's not just Iruma and Baal that still matter on that side of things. It also means others that Iruma can rely on in the event Baal tries something in an "the enemy of my enemy" kind of way since the other two wouldn't exactly appreciate losing their chances at the throne to whatever Baal has cooking.

Also interesting how this plays out. The politics of the peaceful times are blocking the candidate that would move them more towards peace. Uneasy balance.

For what I understand here is that, Henry is telling Mephisto:

"If we rise this little guy's rank there will be a whole world conflict and most likely they will start sending assassins for his ass, specially my dog co-worker"

And Mephisto told him "Dude, we are demons we are supposed to be able to do what we want as long as respects the rules and kill whoever disagrees"

Mephisto understood so I guess that's fine even if he doesn't like it, so he is gonna stay close to Iruma, not only to rise him as a king but to protect him.

That arc would be at least 3 episodes of a shounen anime series that is cross-dressing and queerness.

i could be wrong, but this is probably the first time the story takes a complicated turn through featuring the lower class in demon society, that is the many-ears race (at least a glimpse). we can get the gist of how chaotic and frustrating it can be, although i suppose it's still not that close enough, and i personally would like more. we had the complicated conflict from the perspective of the high class, starting from chapter 290, during the secret dinner, and it's just politically exciting LOL

also, did not expect the combination of iruma, bachiko, and razberry (he even straight away calls iruma). can't wait for the next chapter
