I don’t think she is that much of a secret keep, though!

If you ask me, I think her stability is what happens when she always keeps her hope! Simple as that! (As cliche as it may be)
It's possible that's all there is to it, and of course, with this author it's literally impossible to tell where they'll take their characters.
But also, there is such a thing as overplaying one's own trauma and putting on a mask of the persona people expect of you, for many possible reasons (being afraid of rejection for example).
And we haven't really learned much about what happened to Tama after she got separated from Shien. And she is exactly the type of person I could see hiding her own trauma, especially seeing how much strength Shien and Mode gain from her still being the person they used to know.
Suffice to say, I am very curious for future updates of this manga.

I mean it’s possible, but we already saw a brief overview of Tama’s life after the Witch Hunt in the first chapter, described by a few mini panels and there’s not much depressing stuff back then (and the volume cover even has the words “Everyday Comedy” on it), so I don’t think Tama has that much “Traumatized past”, or at least she has the least trauma of them all.

I said it before in another comment, but I see this manga as a Doubled Down Dark version of “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid”, in which the magical characters have to adapt to the modern human world while trying to find themselves, and while the undertone is dark (with their past and personalities and all), the characters have love (sometimes even the goofy kind) and happiness among them, plus the occasional Ecchi and cute moments.

Plus this is irrelevant, but the art is just so pretty and stylish. The Mangaka really improved a lot since the last “Yona Yona Yona” series and “Reki and Yomi”, so needless to say I am also greatly anticipating the next chapter.

I feel like Shien is hiding something, like sure, she was a kind of neet back then but to the point she became this way? Something else must have happened, maybe true heartbreak being separated from her student?

Not sure where people are getting the reading that the master is dying.
She just seems incredibly depressed. Likely if Tama had rejected her, then she would have had literally no other reason to keep living. She smokes for likely the same reason most people do, because its soothes her and it passes the time. The implication to me is clearly that whatever happened to her was so traumatizing, that she became overly dependent on smoking.

Why do I feel like the smoke she just lit would give Tama a dream summary of what happened to her after they split up, and now Tama is fighting sleeping due to unease. And I feel like it really will be nothing that has happened, a mind numbing nothing that would drive most to insanity for centuries.

I'm so glad this got picked back up, thank you for the translation. Did not expect this level of heartache from this manga but I'm loving the tonal shifts.

If the author goes for the (for some reason) typical trope and make it so Shien was r*ped or something I am dropping this…

Genuinely I think things are just the way Shien presents them. nothing happened, for several centuries she just languished and didn't do much of anything to the point she became completely dependent on substance abuse to get her through her boring days.

Shien just got very depressed and Tama coming back into her life is pulling her out of that fugue while also presenting her with the idea that she can't continue to fail her student. Shien views herself as much lesser than she used to be as well. So yeah I don't think she's lying, nothing happened and also if Tama leaves her because she stops caring for her master Shien might as well have nothing else to live for.

I call bullshit, something must've happened that devolved her into a shadow who who she once more

Oh yo, she actually yawned earlier on, that's. what. I'm. talking. ABOUT.

Aight I'm all caught up here now, I continue with my day as planned....
Have a nice day like nice :)
