Lowkey didn't expect how this chapter went. They just fully exposed all the secrets, addressed how Kimura viewing himself as a "side character" is self destructive, and Manaka taking a step towards her relationship towards Kimura. Author absolutely cooked here.

Man got put on blast and I'm here for it.
I don't bother with the artist or author in the slightest. They're telling a story. This story is not released in any format where westerners can support it. So if I see it being released in english I'll buy it and throw it in the kindle pile.
Glad to see the author is cooking.

The message in the artist's picture is spammed twice and says in spanish
"What the hell do you want to do with this story?💀
The MC absolutely has to end up with Manaka, like, wtf bro, it's obvious XD
And honestly, I don't understand why Manaka is so obsessed with Ei, like ???😭
If the MC doesn't end up with Manaka, this work is going to be the worst piece of shit in the history of rom-coms, fr💀🔥"
Gosh darn it of course they gonna send messages

It's actually interesting that there's a commentary here about main characters that are overly selfless and that see themselves as characters in another people's story.
I can't for the life of me remember them, but there are at least a couple I saw reading mangas every now and then.
The craziest part is that most of the other characters just take these MC's at face value, they go all "Oh my God MC-Kun is so selfless and brave!" but that's where it ends... Cool to see that we're trying to think deeper here.

You have to admit though that the portion of the western anime "fanbase" of a certain concentration of melanin has a tendency of brigading authors/artists for perceived slights on social media.
Unless you mean white guys and their low concentration... then no because that's a racist whining point to gatekeep people out of fandom. Which is hilarious because I am old enough to remember when the same cucks now talking about this tried to white wash tons of strongly Asian characters by claiming the art styles at the time were definitely just white people or why not yellow peril joke features? I have seen far far worse out of my fellow entitled Saltines than any of our more melanated siblings. Your comment being a wonderful example.
I mean I don't mind writing hoodweeb, niqqer, negro or nignog. I'm just being nice about it.
This is another great example. Thanks.

Wow, self-hating white boy over here demonstrating his lack of racism by calling a chinese man, white.
You people are a joke for completely different reasons.

All your performative vice signalling is sad, man. I guessed and I still think I guessed right but if you think my missed guess is some moral victory, good for you.

For future reference, "self hating white man" isn't a thing, all straight white guys love being straight white guys. The only people who use it are the idiots who fell for dickless cuck manoshpere grifters who tell themselves they are alpha while jerking off to men's health magazines.

The way Kimura behaves, it reminds me of a Web novel I was reading last year. The way he treats himself as "expendable," sees himself as someone that is only there to ensure that each of the characters that they support is able to get the best possible ending for them and sometimes sees themselves as outsiders to the group (e.g. when they were carving their names into the desk, Kimura was surprised that he was included and there were other examples throughout the previous chapters) makes them really similar to each other. I'm interested to see why he behaves in such a manner, downplaying the compliments he gets from the rest of the cast, which funnily enough, is just like the MC of the Web novel I talked about.

Of course, if anyone is interested, here's the link: https://kakuyomu.jp/works/16817330655692681590

Pictured: a MangaDex user who desperately wants to say the N-word

I mean, you should mind, but what's even the point of this comment where you still won't go hard R? Is it like, "I don't mind being seen as racist, but saying that shit with my chest? I wasn't raised in a barn!" Like, by the time your ideas are that racist, the words you pick to express them are a minor issue.

That aside, again, and I really want to stress this: You should mind.

why would i buy a book i cant read? i wish authors would just always have a co-fi or something that is linked on mangadex. id love to just send them money directly. i dont want to buy a physical book
If YOU want to feel rightfully morally superior to the cringiest fans on twitter, there's an easy way to support the creators and publisher: Buy a damn copy of both volumes. If you're only used to buying official translations, you might be shocked by how cheap it is.

Here's an official seller that lets you use Paypal guest checkout to process international credit cards: Seymour. Site plays nice with the translation features built into your browser and everything.

C'mon, if it's your first purchase through them, the 70% off means both volumes are yours for less than three US dollars. That's like, a gas station candy bar or somethin

It's not a physical book? It's an ebook.

And you would buy it because it's not just the author and artist that brings you the finished product. The publisher gives the creatives the cash up front they need to live so they can have the time to write or draw. Your favorite manga wouldn't be your favorite manga without an editor, a team supporting that editor, and a designer to put together the package for the tank.

I'm not an expert, but I know that manga, the medium, is structured entirely around its publishing model. It is an entire ecosystem with a lot of moving parts. The money from your purchase isn't as important as the sale. That's how everything's measured, and how decisions at the publisher are made. Ideally we'd also all pretend to read on the magazine's website, too, and do whatever engagement crap they offer so the traffic/interest could be reflected accurately.

You don't have to read the ebook. You can think of it as a donation and never look at it again. I wish everything had HQ official translations that were available from the publisher at minimal markup, or via subscription, or any number of things that are better than the current setup.

But you buy it because you read it, and it's just the right thing to do.

im doing that for this book, but looking through random japanese sites for a way to buy it without needing an account or something isnt exactly a scalable way for the dozens of mangas id support..

I was originally against Kimura and Manaka ending up as a couple, but this chapter's end kind of changed my mind

I hear you, and thank you so much for buying a copy. These days some groups include a "support the author" QR code in their credits page, and I've seen some truly outstanding solo scanlators include screenshot, step-by-step instructions on the easiest way to support what you're reading. But even for readers who care about the medium, the author, or the scene, I'm sure it's single-digit percentage (or sub-hundredth-percent fractions more realistically) who are willing to go to the trouble.

You're right, and I'll go one further: It sucks that most people involved in creating the thing we like view us two ways at the same time -
  • When it comes to many publisher's decisions to give us an easy way to buy legit copies, we're "too small of a market to be concerned with," and get either nothing at all or the worst garbage at the worst purchase terms imaginable
  • When it comes to "piracy" we're a huge drain on their income somehow :angery:

It's getting better? It's still a long way off. Some publishers are way better about it than others.
Shoujo magazines why do you hate my money?

Yeah i don’t really get why people decide to go after the author. I mean if you hate it just read other works. Harassing both author and artist for their work not fits your tastes is so retard.
