So we're gonna ignore the fact that they gave her all their fortune so that she'd form a contract with their son, then lost their lives and their son still doesn't get the contract despite everything being paid up front? And now not only the son is going to live in poverty, his parents are also dead and despite all that has no contract?

Man, this family got screwed over tremendously. I hope she at least return their entire fortune instead of just trinkets.

@Aichan:
To be fair, the fact that they basically pressured her into giving up with money and begging was a bit iffy already given her comment on acolytes being the one to judge if a master is worthy to serve.

Like, did the son want her for her abilities (since the sword wife approved, the girl can't be that weak), or is he just a selfish kid with overly indulgent parents.

She most likely was going to form the employment contract first, but seeing as Soujirou had the right to choose maybe the son might've just pick the subservience one and force her into his plaything.

It was a fair exchange. The parents believed that she was worth their entire fortune and therefore paid up front with their entire fortune, three large chests full of treasures. It is nothing more than good business. They didn't force her to accept. She probably refused at first, I'm sure, but she was properly paid for it. She wasn't stupid, she already knew what she had gotten herself into when she accepted the sale-purchase agreement.

It doesn't matter what the son wanted to do with her or if he's a selfish brat. When she accepted the purchase price, she became merchandise. When someone buys a car, the car dealer will never force the buyer to treat the car with respect. The buyer paid for it at the price agreed, so the buyer can do anything he wants with the car even if he wants to wreck the car right in front of the dealership.

However, since she's not yet the son's contracted girl, you can say that she still has the right to refuse. But, since she broke the contract, she at least should return all the money used to purchase her. If his parents are dead, the contract is not honoured and she also takes all the money, that's just a douche move.

>They didn't force her to accept.

Why am I reminded of the 'nobody literally had a gun pointed at their head' defense?
They refused to take NO for an answer and keep begging in public to make themselves a nuisance enough to pressure her into reluctantly accepting.
Or what, just because she still could've said no clearly it wasn't 'forced' in anyway?

What if they had taken someone hostage and said she either has to come with them or that person will be kept imprisoned until death, is that still not forcing her because it was her choice to make?

> If his parents are dead, the contract is not honoured and she also takes all the money, that's just a douche move.

They donated to the temple for the right of it, meaning the temple, not her, get the money.

Heck did it not occur to you that if the money is hers, where was she keeping it? The MC saw her skills and clearly she did not have any kind of dimensional storage type skill.

The dealership can't force them to treat the car well, but they sure as hell would make sure wrecking the car like that would void any warranty on the car and probably refuse service in the future.
