New month, new development update.

Released last month:
  1. Fix where website comments would overflow out of their box
  2. Typo fixes around the website
  3. Payment compliance details
  4. Ministry vs Resistance event for GachaDex
  5. Subscriptions are active again
  6. DMCAs from March 2025 that used the system have been added to the Transparency Report
  7. API abuse enforcement
UI:
  1. Considering adding a page selector to the top of the uploads list on the title page
    1. Working on it, will try to have it by the end of the month
  2. Title and chapter comments on the platform for supporters
    1. Almost done, just waiting for some small changes in the API. Should release before the end of the month, too
  3. Expand social and comments on the platform to group 2
    1. Being released alongside point 2
  4. More tooling for platform moderators to help resolve user reports
    1. Partially done, some more to follow
  5. DMCAs from CODA and COA to be imported into the Transparency Report
System:
  1. PIR endpoint
    1. Harder than it should be. Because information touches different systems, this will take us a bit longer.
  2. Android and iOS app release preparations
  3. Reading tracking preparations
  4. Platform notifications on Web
A big thank you to our Dex-chan supporters and contributors!

God bless Dex-chan.

  • Username changes: working on it, this takes time. Authentication is sensitive and must be handled properly.
  • Xenforo updates: this is in the list as part of our maintenance work.
  • Payment details: correct, it pertains to icons and company information.

Is there a timetable for when the new comments system will be available to all users? Also, will it support comments on member pages and groups, or only on manga titles and chapters?

Scanning over the storm of transparency reports was fun... 19 pages of reports in just two days. And 39.5 pages in total are just from a single company. I didn't realize so many Japanese manga and English comics have their rights held by a Korean company.
  • Marionetta (English, took down an Italian translation)
  • Morgana and Oz (English, took down a Portuguese (Brazil) translation)
  • Please Get Out of My Family (Japanese, took down English translations)
  • The Shaman Master (Chinese, took down English translations)
  • Hand Jumper (English, took down Vietnamese translations)
    • Edit: maybe I don't understand how languages work... Hand Jumper is English on Webtoons, and has the English flag on Mangadex, but the synopsis on Webtoons definitely seems like the main character is Korean so maybe the webtoons version is a translation already? /shrug
  • Shuumatsu no Laughter (Japanese, took down English and Russian translations)
  • The Beginning After the End (English, took down Spanish, Portuguese, and Portuguese (Brazil) translations)
  • Clinic of Horrors (English, took down English and Turkish uploads)
    • English uploads were from the official uploader Merryweather Media that links to a tweet from the creator that gives permission to do pretty much anything to the comics as long as it isn't comercial
    • Based on that, I'm not sure what right there was for a Korean company to send a DMCA for it?
    • :questionblob:
  • Genshi Otome to Kami no Tou (Japanese, took down English translation)
  • A Villainess No More (Chinese* but apparently based on a Korean novel... Took down English translation)
edit: I'm bored now... The above were what I could find from pages 19-40 of the transparency reports. April 1st-April 22nd, 2025

The Merryweather one is an odd one. They are very open about wanting people of all types around the world to see their works.

Sounds like we may have a malicious korean company striking things semi-randomly.

Could they be possibly using AI detection to strike things without verifying what is what?
