With how things going, i think we're months or like a year away from someone with a bit of brain and initial funds creating a site in a country that don't care about DCMA or other similar stuff (and a backup in some other country) that host and grabs all the manga, licensed or not, with decent site UI (that majority of sites lack, pirate and officials) and all the related things - forums, chatrooms, discord, that, instead of loading the site with ads, will ask like, idk, 5-10$ per month for unlimited access. Probably even working together with scanlators (with crypto around, no one will be able to track anything) to translate stuff.

What they gonna do? Block the site? We all know how well it's working with most people around the globe already having basic knowledge in how to use VPN, certain browsers extensions, or some other tools, in worst case scenarios. It's all about convenience.

Why not implement a solution like the one E-Hentai did with ExHentai a.k.a Sad Panda?
I mean, create a linked section through an alt domain only accessible to confirmed users through their activity/karma

Sankaku Complex did something similar, a restriction based on its users' behavior/activity and how old they accounts are

You're aware that many cryptocurrencies record every single transaction in what amounts to a public ledger, right? Cryptocurrency may, in and of itself, be anonymous, but it's certainly not untraceable.

There are people who spend impossible amounts of time doing all kinds of dumb shit for grins, and I wouldn't put it past someone to do this. And I wouldn't put it past a law enforcement agency somewhere deciding to sink their teeth into this because some agent gets a hard-on for chasing it. Not saying either is likely, but certainly not outside the realm of possibility - stranger things have happened. (See Clifford Stoll's The Cuckoo's Egg for a prime example.)

Also, who is the 'they' that need people to think cryptocurrency is untraceable in your statement?

mate, US law enforcement knows russian scammers using crypto by their full names the reasons they could not do shit though are very different from "oh god they using crypto it's untraceable!"

and here also the other thing, piracy escalates? methods to combat it will too. russia, funnily enough, is on the cutting edge of filtrating traffic on the internet, RN there is ways to combat it, they are relatively simple for now, but system analysing traffic through deep packet inspection gets more able with each passing month. VPNs get swatted like flies, for now it's only small ones what did not have any contacts in russia going. heck, even some bigger ones, like browsec and wireshark have been blocked completely. next phase will be blocking entire vpn protocols.

so yeah, if there will be an incentive - everything on the internet can be nuked and or blocked, RN it's just not worth the cost

Never underestimate the capabilities of a group of properly motivated and slightly pissed off technical personnel.

I won't say mangadex got targeted because of this, but I will say it contributed to make the website too high profile. Hosting underage porn could become the next attack vector to swarm the admins with more legal clusterfuck.

You jumped so hard to clutch on the definition of "underage porn" to give yourself good conscience, that you're just going to ignore that I'm purely talking about how it works for the "official" side of things. Copyright holders don't give a shit about your argument or that it's not real humans, they just want to shut down the redistribution of their intellectual property. If there is a law that they can interpret in some way + some connections with law enforcement, they will use it.

Don't be ridiculous, it have anything to do with the DMCA, the target aren't these niche hentai but the regular titles, 100% of removals were not hentai related.
Is clear that you personally do not like hentai, understandable, just use the option to hide genres or the whole 18+ stuff, censoring stuff for everyone is not the way to go.

I do not think is your business what MD admins allow or not, they are aware and give you the option to hide hentai and you complain anyway because in the end you want a ban for everyone because you have a grudge against a certain subgenre. DMCA is just an excuse. If you have issues in your country then enable the optiona and you are fine. Russia or whatever is not the whole world and in majority of the countries drawings do not have human rights, is a trivial thing.

Yep, they ask the ban for principle, because they think that no one should read them, lol. After 30 years i'm into anime and manga and read every kind of genre i never read once that someone from fiction emulate it into reality.
Emulation is the most used excuse the detractors use for banning content they do not like, but they never provide evicence and data of these claims, simply because such data is not existent since is a trivial thing, a non issue, a personal grudge against art and nothing else.
