I disagree. Are there some people that are making new accounts just to troll? Certainly. But thinking all the new posters are shit stirrers is extremely narrow minded.
This only affected 10 titles so the vast majority of users who do not engage with the forums would only learn about this via SNS. And this decision and initial reply is so stupid that people making their first post be about not liking this direction is not surprising at all.

This could've been handled more tactfully like most situations that blow out of proportion

You do, however, make a fantastic point. This only hit like 10 series, all from the same submission, and this was done long before such a grandiose announcement was even made.

Most of the userbase don't bother with manga commenting and checking the forums. This thread is making the rounds in various social media platforms, so an old user's first comment being here is very reasonable.

I can imagine a lot of people found this thread while trying to figure out why a manga in an open tab or in a bookmark suddenly started returning 404. I'm no stranger to suddenly finding out all of the chapters in English for some manga being nuked - but to have an entire page being wiped from existence (while it still appears as the first result on Google for that manga)...

Even if i never commented before - this kind of BS would make me go to the forum to ask "the fuck?".

There have always been exceptions for things like licensed series, I feel like now that they are telling people they can't upload stuff they have no rights to, going against THEIR wishes goes against their new stance on things.

Made my forum account the other day when things started happening because I'm concerned some of my favorite series are next on the chopping block. This is EXACTLY the type of issue that's going to bring out a large number of users who have never interacted with the forums before.

I thought corporate was just a word to indicate the scale of a company... but yeah this is probably a money move. Or at least to avoid "losing" money or something

That can't be right since I checked comments by clicking the link from the chapter listing for 6 years before I made my first comment and I had to make a forum account at that point. If this is true then it is a more recent change and hasn't been that way for the majority of this site's existence.
