Hello guys, i really like this website, and he gives me the "open source" vibe, since he is made using bootstrap as frontend framework, i would like to suggest a feature: a comment system over the pages.
eg: you have a button labeled "add comment", the user choose a spot who he would like to leave a comment, a scene on the manga that he think is amazing, the user click in that spot, then a float textarea shows on the center of the screen and the user can write and submit his comment, other users can see it just hovering the area, where the user leave the comment, it's like the instagram when someone tag a friend in the picture and you see the username when hover it, when you click in the username you can read the comment, and other users can reply that comment.
Note: since this can be a mess if so many comments appears in the page, you can make a button called "hide and show comments"

alternatively, you can make a comments area, where the user "quote" that page, and post the comment with the thumbnail of the page above it with a link to that page.

Remaking the whole site seems tough...But that level of dedication is just wonderful~! A heartfelt thank to all MD staff 💓!!
Regarding suggestion, there is a minor issue I'm facing that involve the "go back" function: when I click the Back button (of the browser) while reading a chapter, it goes back to the series' main page (with chapter list) instead of the previously read chapter, and this is not really convenient. An example scenario: I was reading chapter 30 of a manga and needed to confirm some hidden info in chapter 25. I went to chapter 25 to confirm, done. But when I click Back, it returned to the chapter list page instead of chapter 30! I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature of the reader but either way I don't think that is the normally expected behavior of the "back" function. If it's not too much of a hassle, it would be nice if you guys can change this~ Thank you very much!

It'd be great to have the option to see a list of the manga I follow, but not by released chapters, just a list of the follows.

I've half-noticed complaints like this a few times but I ignored them because I knew that doesn't actually happen. However, I use double page, and I just remembered that I did change the history behaviour for long strip specifically so that it doesn't create history items for scrolling through every page because of the complaints I got about it, so I checked, and yeah it seems that changing chapters doesn't create history items either even though that was the intention.

I should fix that bug.

You mean this?

Would it be possible to implement a completely static feature sparse reader of some kind as a user-selectable fallback for people accessing with non standard or out of date browsers?
If their browser is somehow so hopelessly out of date that it couldn't display the site at all even with all the legacy transpiling and polyfills then forget making a separate reader, we would need to keep developing and maintaining an entire separate static website in addition to the proper one.

It's going to be a matter of whether we want to spend development time on improving the site or satisfying the guy who insists on browsing our website with his Nintendo DS

Please, PLEASE don't do this. mozJPEG compression has very clear effects on certain types of detailing, the process combined with a rescale can make some text and sfx completely unreadable (especially on older releases or poor quality not upscaled raws), and lossy transparency will negatively affect the few webcomics that use it. Depending on implimentation it can also work poorly with compression of large aspect ratios. (webcomics uploaded in strip form, multipage spreads) This is on top of the performance load compressing these at time of delivery, or the additional space needed if both compressed and original images are kept after initial processing at upload.

If it is considered, it should be a user specific setting and off by default.
Is mozJPEG can really make text unreadable? Forgive for my ignorance, but I never heard rescale has that kind of unintended side effect--unless it forcefully resized from low-res to high-res, that I'm aware. And I don't know why you want to compress images on delivery, you at least need to set up a dedicated server to install thumbor for that, or use image CDN services like Cloudinary, which is pricey and unnecessary, because compressing images can be done in uploader's browser. As for the cost, if anything, it should lower the operating cost, because most CDN that handle read operation way more than write should worry about bandwidth billing, not the storage space.

This all is, of course, only my speculation. I could be wrong, since I don't use Cloudflare and other stack that mangadex uses.

@Plykiya The MC gender tag is important because it is annoying when the cover of the manga is a female and MC is male or when cover is male and MC is female. I am sick and tired of deceptive covers. The other MC tags are not as important.

As fo Litrpg, its a genre that describes a world with a system like gaining skills. I know there is a video games tag but video games is too vague. Litrpg describes actually living in a game world, not just playing games.

A read queue would be nice.
It could take a 100 chapters from the follow tab, throw out the read ones, and have the last chapter of a manga redirect you to the next one in line.
That would be much nicer than having to open up 20 tabs.

Also maybe a follow export/import to i can reorganize it myself.
Being able to just juggle some json around would be much faster than trying to do it myself via the site.

Idk if someone posted it before. Pages for series. For example, a main page for strike witches listing all the strike witches manga.

I've been bugged by this issue for months:

When you are not logged in and you search for something, the DDoS prevention login page kicks in. After log in, instead of showing the search results, it shows the previous page you were in.

Not sure if someone else has mentioned it, but I would really like to be able to export my MD lists. Just something to keep track of what I'm reading, and what chapter I'm on in case something happens to MD.

Yeah that's just going to be the standard APi

Something like the tachiyomi chapter system would be nice. What i mean by that is that when you check your follows each title would come up (as images/covers) and have the number of unread chapters on the corner. Then you could sort by the title with the most unread and finish it off. It makes looking through your manga easier and also makes it easier to catch up on manga you read a while back but dont have any new updates to remind you to read it.

*edit - something similar was said by DarthSomething on Reddit.

...skip the ninth version! Way to break convention, MD.
Petition to make this version "v69" instead of v5

On a more serious note I still want a like system like Batoto
We're still going to be using bootstrap, although we did consider material
Is this a comment on a like system? If its not can you explain it in a way normal people can understand
- - -
Feel like this will be mostly used by holier-than-thou folks, hope I'm wrong
All the holier than thou folks are already cancering the comment section of every isekai manga in existence
- - -
Other QOL ideas:
- have whenever you highlight to copy someone's comment in a comment section (to quote them) you copy the "@person said:" line right before it so convos are easier
like if I copy
Even though I'd identify myself as a boob loving man, this is too big. It is no longer attractive or even look like boobs.
it becomes
(at)Vaqvbu1a said: Even though I'd identify myself as a boob loving man, this is too big. It is no longer attractive or even look like boobs.
on my Clipboard.

It would be nice to be able to tag a whole group (the same way you tag a person in a post, like @Plykiya) and everyone in the group receive the notification.
I'd also like an autocompleting function for tagging people and a button to answer a post (automatically tagging the author and inserting a quote of the original post)

(I'm not native so sorry for the possible faults)
I think it would be nice if we could choose a principal language and get our '' Follow" list updated only when a chapter in said language is out. I mean it's pretty annoying to have tons of releases in Spanish on ur '' follow tab" in home page when ur French :c
