Yeah, my current read on the situation is that the guy is a legitimate patriot, doing what he thinks needs to be done to ensure competent leadership. It doesn't have to be his, but someone good enough to stop him is acceptable. Or he pulled a pitcher-plant maneuver like Georg from Realist Hero and pulled all the subversives to himself so he could drag them all to Hell by sacrificing himself.
