I had read the raws for this chapter but didn't really understood this part for problems with the text, now I understand, the hero family is harassed from the village because they want him back to protect them, or very likely, got promised a reward from some noble that will get him after he leaves the royal capital protection.

The posts above say she is the heroine of the story, I presume the meaning is that MC will fall for her (sayonara guild clerk-chan), after all the noble lady that super respect MC have a big wall in getting close to him.

the noble lady that super respect mc, is a rewritten character. the the WN/first version she was never mentioned again after the first battle. and stayed forgotten. despite having some back story as the sister of his brothers ex fiance.
the Manga follows the light novel version. where she has more appearances.

Novel, when the troubles start with the house she got married to. Result of the son of the one of the guys who died in the castle that got taken by the demons stirring trouble. Hermine talks about it, she wanted to talk about it with Werner but didn't think it was appropriate IIRC.

Spoiler: Lily

Lily is the main heroine and will eventually become MC's fiancee. MC and Lily get together not because of politics but because of love.

She is not a fighter, but she has photographic memory (iirc, I may be wrong) and is a very good artist, both 2D drawings and 3D sculptures (which is very useful for making maps and blueprints of MC's inventions and experiments). She's both smart and loyal, and she doesn't really overstay her welcome imo. Their romance is quite slow and the story doesn't really focus on it that much mainly because MC is always out on a war somewhere and Lily mostly acts as his secretary/assistant.

She will become very politically important because she is the Hero's sister. She is treated as a backup in case Mazell dies, so that the people have someone to rally under in case the Hero dies on his journey to defeat the Demon King. Also, people are after her because having her marry into their family means that they will have some form of a hold on the Hero Mazell. This is why MC's family is protecting her and her entire family. Iirc she's probably the second most politically sought after maiden after the saintess princess (which is the Hero Mazell's love interest).

Currently, they still haven't married in the novel because the King wants MC and Mazell to destroy the Demons first.

Not that simple.... Lily will be anchor point for vol 3 of Novel and she will be relevant on several next volume.

1. She is targeted by Demon King...not only because she is Hero's sister but also one perfect vessel to ressurect the demon king
2. This one will be crucial, she have spatial awareness. A rare among people on that world, even higher ups from Royal Castle approve and delighted with it

I hate to tell you, but it might. But don't be afraid my friend, the story is not yet over, there's still hope for hermine. Tho the Hero's sister itself is a huge challenge on its own, especially with the disadvantage on hermine side thanks to her sister.

I just saw someone review on volume 6, save to say hermine save for now, the engagement is failed and crisis averted. But, the bad news for hermine and Werner shippers, Lily apparently confessed to Werner in this volume and Werner seems to be accepted the confession. Majority of the people in the comment section seems happy about it, but most of them is this who already read the WN before the LN. Hence, Hermine character doesn't really hold up much for them, since she basically only mentioned in the first few chapter and forgotten never mentioned again. But those who i assumed read the LN had mixed feelings to say the least, some happy, some not so happy that hermine seems to be the only one that suffered.

Now, i know the story doesn't end so there's still hope even though it most likely not gonna happen. I think it's gonna be hard going forward after this so i am gonna take a break from continuing the series. Maybe try to read the LN, so to understand more about Lily character. I never really like Lily character so far, and still think that hermine make, well not necessarily better, but more interesting FL so knowing the fact is kinda make me disappointed. For now, i am gonna drop the series, at least until the next volume release to see the story develop
