the mangaka was sick since last year.
don't know the condition now
chapter 19 is the end of volume 4

also, just a little FYI, there's actually an extra page after page 8 for better transition to page 9 in the volume version
Hey guys, sorry about the missing page. Yes, there is a page showing a transition like this person said. I'll talk to Hero about this, maybe he's forgot about it because there's nothing to edit in there. And thanks for noticing, next time i hope you'll can tell us directly in our discord

so... the raw is just up to chap 19 :/ last update 2024/09/24. Anyone knows what happened to the manga?
If not mistaken, the manga is prepublished on the Comic Gardo (Web). They let their authors choose their publication schedule type, and for this manga it's volume by volume.
Chapter 19 is simply the end of the current volume.
I dont know if a JP speaking friend can find a release date for vol 5 but i can give insight :
Nearly 10 months separated vol 3 and 4. As JP release date was at the end of July 2024, if the same rythm is followed, a release around May 2025 seems logical.
If anyone has other infos, i'll be glad

I may be reading this wrong, but if there is a finite amount of ambient mana in a given place at any time, wouldn't it be theoretically possible to temporarily drain a place of mana in advance, and lure your enemies to a battlefield where their mages are cut off? Alternatively, you could have your own mages drain the battlefield with useless spells, rendering the opponent's mages moot as well over the course of combat. I suppose the amount of mana is too large for that to be considered a viable strategy, but it's something to think about.

This at least shows that the latter is possible (there's no indication yet that he's testing the re-charge rate of environmental mana), and Werner has past-world experience that may make him believe better magic-tactics (like combat ones) are necessary in the future. It could be inferred in both domains that he's trying to guide the nation to be more accepting to such tactics by proving it in advance.

Mages must be grinning because they 1) get to learn new things, 2) get to prove their worth in combat, and 3) get out of the tower!

Poor man doesn't see that he's broadcasting his leadership, planning, and research skills. He's never going to get a break...

Kingdom's gonna have a lock onto Werner for the rest of his life as Archmagus, Tactician / General of the Armies, and (potentially) head of two of the most militarily-successful noble houses.

You're on the right track!
The demons are better at magic than humans and can cast large scale magic bombardments that the humans cannot currently fathom in this era of relative peace. He is preparing them for defense against such opponents.

It will be a while until we see the tactic. In the LN we're at chapter 28, and the combat is around chapter 207.

degenkolb is such a german name for a knight. while "degen" means sword or rapier, "kolb" refers to a club or mace. the name as a whole describes a very skilled fighter.
werner of course tops everything with his name meaning something along "being cautious", which is literally his trope in the manga.

That is exactly what this is for, especially with the last line the mage said.

This isn't the "first test", they've already done multiple iterations to optimize mage castings in this scenario. This was a "demonstration" to the army of Welner's value, as well as what the future of magic tactics is going to look like.

Man I know this is just an isekai so I should have lower expectations but this has so much potential. The MC isn't that edgy and there's no obscene fan service. World building a really odd at times but the fantasy element is nice.

I really hope they don't ruin it by making the MC the only competent character. I don't want this to be a self jerk story where everyone starts stroking the MC. Hopefully the other characters start getting some respect and development.

A little bummed out that he is the only one who thought of this so far. Would have been nice if there were others working on these ideas already or if there was someone knowledgeable enough to lead these experiments instead of him. Cuz well even though he's played the game he's only lived in this world for a short while and as most a student.
