Too late, the father already made the connection. It's going to be nice to see both her and her son realizing the only people who can be afraid are people with things to lose and karma is already knocking at their door.

Maria escaping with all evidence in the past was probably their biggest oversight.

I don’t know, even for a manga packed with absurdities, the idea of Okaya having control over the police feels like a step too far. It’s one thing to embrace the chaotic and exaggerated elements, but giving a high school boy that much power—especially since it seems he’s had it since middle school—really stretches the limits of believability, even for this story.

Thanks for the chapter!

It already happened when Okaya turned out to be a super detective who knows everything from circumstantial evidence and details that are seemingly disconnected. Since it was already absurd just take it that the mother used his genius to get to the top and will keep going along with it if it means she can get even higher. Is it dumb? Yeah, but it's been dumb for a long time.

I wondered if she would appear at some point, but damn, this was a surprise. I remember her being mentioned back in Ch 13 via a text exchange with Nozomu.

Such a cliche "twist" that the villain has an in with the police and it's their parent :bleh:
it'd be more of a twist if Okaya's father was a legitimately good person lol. I feel sorry for any of his clients unless he's 'normal' among them and doesn't fuck with their minds for fun

Okay, I'll say it first: the mom is a little hot. Great legs but the hair and face isn't doing it for me. I better expect that kid to have a dilf...
I think we've seen his dad at least once before

I understand the point you’re making. Okaya already being a super detective does set the stage for absurdity, and I get that the manga has embraced this over-the-top premise for a while. But even so, there’s a difference between being a genius detective and actually controlling the police force. It’s one thing to be incredibly smart and connect dots others might miss, but it’s another to wield that kind of institutional power—especially when we’re talking about a high schooler (or middle schooler) pulling the strings behind law enforcement. That just feels like a huge leap, even in a world where things have already been pushed to ridiculous extremes.

Sure, the story has embraced the absurd, but there’s still a point where it crosses into territory that’s harder to accept, even with suspended disbelief.
