Seeing how Kyoka and Yuuki held their own against Ren only shows how much they've grown. As a result, they put a dent to Ren's ego and superiority. No one expected the fight to end this way yet it did. Ren is cocky and underestimates those she looks down on. That alone will bite her plump ass one day.

Man they didn't tie, they just survived against her.
Not even wrong, if it was a real "1 minute fight" the winner would have been decided by the amount of damage each contestant took, and this would clearly have made Ren a winner, so not at all a tie.
But that aside, Yuuki team did win, because the goal was to survive 1 minute against Ren, and they managed to do so, even if a single hit from Ren to either of them would likely knock them unconscious.

yeah but that was kind of the point. the gods are immensely more powerful than kyouka is and ren wasnt able to beat her in the same amount of time she thinks she beat the gods in. kinda says alot about what actually went down last time she fought them doesnt it?
No, because Ren didn’t even try to use her full powers. One of the rules is to not kill your comrades lol.

dunno how impressive this is supposed to be if you just straight up tell me they only lasted the full minute because that wasn't enough time for Ren to figure out just how much she needs to hold back to not kill them
It goes to show that Ren wasn't taking it seriously at first but then ran out of time. In actual battle with the gods, this can mean life or death; either she lose her life or one of her comrades. It may even lead to a destruction of the surrounding with a lot of civilians getting hurt if the gods take advantage of this attitude and sneak in some powerful shuuki in to the real world while the chiefs are busy battling the gods.

Which honestly is astounding in it's own right, and a huge blow to Ren's pride. Ren carries with her the expectations (that's shared by nearly every one else) that no one can match her and that she surpasses everyone else. So for her to not be able to defeat an opponent in an established match under the agreed rules leaves doubts and cracks to her claims. Now while no one can argue that Ren could kill Kyouka and Yuuki, they also can't argue that an opponent may give Ren more trouble than she expected. After all, if she's unable to grasp the full potential of her allies, then she's even less likely to grasp the full potential and ambition of her enemies.
Well spoken I couldn't agree more 👏👏

Thanks for the translation (and thanks to mangaka for not spreading this fight over multiple chapters).

A lot of the people in these comments don’t seem to understand that they weren’t supposed to win this fight. They didn’t even expect to. The whole point was to show that Ren underestimates her opponents because she thinks too highly of herself. She thinks she’s unbeatable. In a fight against someone much weaker and with rules like this, it’s fine. In a fight to the death against someone much closer to her own level of power, it could very well mean her or one of her comrades’ life. The whole point of this fight was to tell Ren not to be so damn cocky or else it’s gonna get her or someone else killed. Whether you think them tying was a win or a loss doesn’t matter, all that matters is if the point got across to Ren. Which personally, I don’t think it did. But I think it revealed that fact to the other captains that hadn’t already realized it.
