The 4th chief doesn’t exist due to the fact that four in Japanese is similar to the word death and therefore is bad luck
Ah I was wondering why there's no 4th chief.
I'll admit that my arguments are extremely on the optimistic side but I'd like to think that it is probable, and with the revealing the onmyou agency's shady dealings would help tip the scales in Kyouka's favor. Although it's not exactly clear what the onmyou agency's relationship Ren.
So the alternate plan could be to force Ren to throw the onmyou agency under the bus or risk potentially losing the election.
Truth be told, I think Kyouka and Tenka's plan of revealing things now IS their best bet, but... my worry is how much all of them really value the difference between moral and absolute strength.
I agree this plan is their best bet and potentially the best time to expose the onmyou agency.
After thinking about this a bit more, this move may not decisively win the election for Kyouka. But it does put the onmyou agency in a bad spot.
(If you allow me to move the goal post) if the main goal isn't to win the election but instead push the MDF against onmyou agency, then this is the best time. Most of the Chiefs are warm to Kyouka and if the evidence against the onmyou agency is damning enough are very likely to be swayed against the agency, thus may push Ren and the MDF to cut ties or event go against the Onmyou agency.
How successfull this move is depends on how much the onmyou agency contribute to the MDF, which I think is never revealed, and how much the chiefs value morals over power.
I can make a case that most of the chiefs value morals over power.
Starting with Mira who is most likely to be swayed by this, she has a strong sense of morality and is probably not going to put her head down if the onmyou agency's misdeeds are bad enough.
Fubuki may value strength as an Azuma. But she knows full well that blind adherence to strength would only put the MDF in to decline like how the Azumas did with Tobera. She may not has the same sense of morality as Mira, but if the agency's misdeeds are worse than their contribution, then she may be swayed as well.
Although Yakumo is in it for the moneys and badokadonks, she may be appalled by the onmyou agency's treatment of (cute) girls. Though otherwise she may not care either.
Konomi may not want to rock the boat due to her age. But she comes acorss as the type to not sit down when there's injustice happening right under her nose. There's a good chance she's gonna be against the onmyou agency if the dirt on them is bad enough.
Varvara created a
cult religion praising Kyouka, as far as she's concerned morality is where Kyouka is.
Bell is Ren's dog and is probably going to follow wherever she goes. However she has experience a large amount of character development, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that she grows a spine and sides with Kyouka.
It's not clear what the relationship between the onmyou agency and Ren or the MDF. If enough chiefs are swayed by the allegations against the Onmyou agency, she may be forced to cut ties with the agency to not run the risk of losing the election.
So yea I think there's a good chance the MDF is swayed to Kyouka's side as long as the evidence against the Onmyou agency is irrefutable and damning.
