[MEGATHREAD] Tags Suggestions

This thread is for suggesting and discussing new tags to be implemented in MangaDex. To suggest a new tag, please follow the guidelines below.

Guidelines:​

1. Your tag should represent a broad theme or concept that applies to a wide range of content. Providing examples is encouraged to clarify where it would be used.
2. Tags should be clear, easy to understand. Try to avoid suggesting tags that are too abstract or based on niche references that might confuse others.
3. Avoid suggesting tags that could closely overlap with existing ones. If unsure, check our Tags Definition for guidance, ask if you're still unsure.
4. Provide a clear explanation of the tag's purpose and what type of content it is meant to categorize.
5. Tags should primarily focus on describing content itself, such as its themes, genres, or storytelling structure. Tags that focus on external conditions or processes are not in line with this rule. Other types of tags may be accepted, provided they help users identify the reading structure or navigational format of the content.
6. Tags promoting content that violates site rules won't be accepted.

Important:​

Anything falling under the banner of "porn tags" is currently pending a tag rework. We're in need of a system for categorizing these tags that will allow us to flag them appropriately and segregate them from the main list of tags.

Theme tag suggestion: Fired​

Hey there! Recently there have been an explosion of adaptations where the main character is underestimated and fired from their job (usually in the Hero's party) before going around and showing them up.

Some recently-popular examples include:
- Leaving an A-Rank party and joining up with students
- Cursed Artificer

There are also some versions of the trope where the user is being fired from something other than an adventuring party, like Frontier Alchemist.

I think that this makes sense to have a tag for, just like the Villainess tag. I'm not sure if there's a pithy Japanese word for it, or what the best English word would be. 'Fired' feels a bit unspecific, so if you've got a better idea that'd be even better.

Should there be a tag for "banished, kicked out." tag so it'll be easier to find the "banished" theme manga?

[Tag Suggestion] Management​

There are a decent size of Manga, where one of the main focus is the main Character is in a position of management. That means, that instead of trying to solve the problem directly themselves they instead delegate the work to someone else. It could also be that they are the lord over a certain area, where they are the one responsible for securing the welfare of their citizens.

Example include:

The Executed Sage Who Was Reincarnated as a Lich Started an All-Out War
Genjitsushugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom)
Koushaku Reijou no Tashinami

[Tag suggestion] Politics​

There is good amount of manga where politics is the focus in one way or another. Generally it could be the negotiation with another party in the form of a representitive of a company, territory or country, for them to gain something that are advantageous for them and who they represents. It could also be court politics, in the sense of being friends with certain people, doing specific favours or tripping over their competion, all to either gain a better standing with certain people or make sure that they are not in a position where they can loose everything even their life.

Genre Tag - "LitRPG"​

I'm personally rather fond of LitRPG content (see Wikipedia). And there's quite a lot of it, too. It would be nice to filter on that.

I guess a world with game-like (or rather, RPG) elements, like leveling, stats, item use/synthesis and stuff like that. Like half of the isekai stuff. I have never seen the genre being referred to using this word before though.

I've seen it used with books, never manga. Though I guess it could make sense since manga is a form of literature....technically?

I also think this would be a great addition, child care / raising a kid manga are some of my tops. A SFW tag for this would be amazing.

Unrelated but,
If anyone’s into this genre and also looking for a good game check out “Volcano Princess” it’s a 10/10 raising sim.

I would like to support adding the tag NTR or cheating. I don't really like those kind of stories and it would be nice to have the option to avoid them

Actually, there is a "genderbender" tag, but I also suggest adding the "bodyswap" tag too, because body swapping and gender changes are different.

We already have alot of works that use that as a theme, and with the fact that we don't have a modern time tag it makes it difficult to find without bulk searching and that's just inefficient.

Here's some examples of works we already have that can fit the theme (it isn't all of them)

Genius Saleman which focuses on selling medical products to hospitals

Rebirth back to 1983 which has the MC selling alot of things and how some strategies back then worked

Modern Villainess; it's not easy building a corporate empire before the crash Like the name implies it takes place in japan's bubble era and focused on making a corporate empire.

Real Man tries to become a CEO of a electronics buisness (Alot of phones)

New Employee tries to become a CEO

When "System" is not in the title, my best way is to search for genre Supernatural.

You could largely replicate this by searching for Fantasy (or Isekai), plus Video Games, Traditional Games, or Virtual Reality, without adding a new tag. There's been several dozens of threads requesting new tags, some with more justification than this, but the mods have been universally against adding new tags that overlap with existing ones.
