I mean, I suspected the guy knew something, never asking Merrily questions about what she was doing all the way out here. Can't quite say I was expecting him to show up to the house literally guns blazing without hesitation, though.

The likening of calmness to the feeling of one's life slipping away was a simultaneously disquieting and rather elegant comparison.

All in all, good read.
