this is what someone else commented so i dont know if this is right but there is an adult manhwa called life with mia where the plot is sort of the same with fmc leaving and returning after 5 years and in the manhwa she has cancer or something so if this is based on that manhwa she could have some years left

Kinda bizzare character and infont quite get what shes saying with the "if we hadnt met i wouldnt have been so vold to you" but at the very least she apologized for being an ass.

I was thinking the exact same thing...it had to have been something bad to have happened, because based off this chapter...and previous chapters of the MCs recollection along with how she reacted in a previous chapter when the MC apologized when he thought he did something wrong....something dark must have happened that caused her to ghost him.

I was also unfamiliar with this usage, but it turns out those kinds of small hotels and boarding houses in Europe are commonly called pensions in English, so it's not a specifically Korean thing.
Both English usages of "pension" trace back to Latin "pensio", which meant "payment" or "rent"
