Uh oh... Both Hana and Miko are in danger.

We already knew Goat Dad was a protective spirit... i think this chapter was implying that Michiru's tentacle monster is also a protective spirit...

Interesting take on it, but I have to disagree :
Michiru's spirit expresses (maybe that should be "mimics") and acts on Michiru's emotions, all of her emotions.
It would be a protective spirit if it only acted up when Michiru felt threatened (as in every time she interacts with her sister), but a lot of the time we see the spirit acting on Michiru's jealous agression toward Hana. Ergo, not protective (IMO).

Okay, so I made it to the next chapter, turns out I was wrong.
Now I don't know what's more messed up, this spirits view of "protecting" Michiru, or me, for assuming that since it's in this manga it had to be something more nefarious.
