Well as others have said, Dad was a real hero this chapter. That mimic can screw off, it's nearly as much of a cheater as Balloon Boy.

One thing I noticed as an undercurrent of this arc has been the recurring motif of photos:
1. Miko and company were denied a group photo at the doughnut shop with Michiru by her sister at her introduction
2. Miko being told by Romm to snap some pics of Michiru which causes their confrontation and Michiru to fall for her
3. The photo album's prominence last chapter exploring Miko's past and highlighting the Shinigami stalker
4. Michiru stealing a childhood photo of Miko this chapter

I am very worried for Hana's safety, she's been targeted by spooks before but her aura offers up some good defense...
Against a jilted possessive yandere? :notlikethis:
Also there has been a new promo adaption of Ch. 39 ~ 41 by Kadokawa on their YT channel to celebrate the latest volume release:
I thought the seiyuu they picked to voice Michiru was both spot-on and chilling.

When you think about it, the last 3 chapters could've been 1 chapter. That way the story would've actually progressed and not walked in place for the last 7 chapters. Which is very long considering this is a monthly release.

Idk, kinda made me wish that Izumi-sensei was drawing 1-off horror stories per chapter like "The Hundred Ghost Stories that Led to My Death" or "Junji Ito Collection" instead of this longwinded manga that takes a year to finish a single arc. Don't get me wrong, I still like this manga, i recognize how good the concept is and Izumi-sensei's skill in drawing horrors, i just wish it wasn't this exhausting to read.

AHHHH! What if those entities are their parents but gone 'bad' which cold be part of why Miko's dad is features as much in this part as he does.

I like your hypothesis with the entities. Got anohter one playing on being orphans:
One could be the doting mother that smothered her with love (tentacles) other could have been somewhat absent workaholic father that thought he could best provide from protecting and providing from a distance. THis could be part of why her sister took on the overprotective route becoming like their mother.

That is a very interesting theory and one that I hadn't considered, the spirits of the dead parents becoming twisted spectres due to the regrets they had in life over their parenting sounds very plausible.

There is however one tiny detail which I'm hung up on, and that is that when Miko sees the spectre at the door, she hears Michiru's sister voice. That one little tidbit of information is what makes me think that the wraith at the door is directly related to the older sister.

But I've been thinking some more and I have a different theory for Michiru's head tentacles. Let's assume that the wraith outside Miko's house was indeed a manifestation of Michiru's sister's obession. So we can also assume that whatever spirits the older sister can conjure, they do not have to be physically connected, or even close to her.

What if the head tentacles were put there by the Michiru's sister herself (unknowingly of course)? A manifestation of her smothering obession, of her compulsion to control and monitor every aspect of Michiru's life. The fact that the tentacles have eyes inside, could represent the older sister's desire to always keep a watchful eye over her little sister.

Or maybe I'm reading far too much into it.

But it is fun to speculate!

Some checking (and great work by creators to build this up since her first appearance in end of #39 enough that i choose to go back and check like this) Mikos first meet by bumping into what she thought was an entity and then behavior in reaction to figuring it out got Michiru into her due to mystery/misunderstanding. Doesn't like being touched, agro tentacles to people just passively annoying. Which may or may not have an effect at keeping people away from her but not her handsy sis unless she just tanks through the effect.

Spikes and tentacles: fighting entities, when sister is mentioned by doc or shows up to take photo at restaurant, and with dad and his entity before entity deescalated it, which did it again when the spikes began to come out the more it seems Hana may be in the way of her growing infatuation. And last when Julie may have jump scared them after the power outage, but then seemed 'down' when picked up, unlike the agro when simply menitoned or showing up in 'surprise.'

Considering the sisters reaction to hearing Michiru's feelings about Miko I doubt that tentacle is connected to sisters emotions. if originated from sister is could have been at most on older impulse or protect her emotions that is now separate from sisters influence. Second entity, be more companion like Miku's dad and been parroting Michiru's sister as it was all the same until the "coming!" before it left. And why 2 heads?

probably the ghost just saw michiru's sister saying all that and saw it worked(somebody responded opening the door) so he tried to do the same thing(not first time this happens). wich make me think how fuckedup this is. like imagine miko is in her room minding her business and her mother calls her. Them she answers... but it was a ghost.
Then she pretends that she is singing or talking to herself or through phone like she always does in that situation, but I'd really be a nervous wreck
when did Miko learn about Julia's powers?
That was during their first meeting in chapter 12, in fact that was how they met, Julia noticed that Miko is avoiding ghosts, and reached out to her about this.
Also the shrine wasn't everpresent.
It was very much in the background, still there, but only the focus when it needed to be.
What the "But shrine" people have wrong is that the entire shrine superarc wasn't the shrine being completely everpresent in the story. Sure, it itself ultimately wasn't the deepest antagonist, but it at least had the decency to evoke dread by not being there and actually having an active mystery.
Yeah I feel like the author is trying to showcase Miko relationship with Hana, and Miko relationship with death more, but it still feels muted behind Michiru

Would have been a pretty crazy development if Miko's little brother also started being able to see them.
Do wonder, why hasn't her dad moved on, now that Julia mentioned it, the fact they brought it up practically implies there's a reason that will be revealed, hopefully sometime soon.

Yeah, this arc does feel really long with no actual progression, but there's definitely build-up here.

And idk man, if Michiru stays the same/doesn't change even without the "ghost" (still Yandere-ish and still obsessive towards Miko) and hate/hostile towards Hana even at the end of the Arc, then she could just stay away from the main group for good, it's not worth it.

Yes her character is interesting but even if she's like that because of her family, it's still not right to justify all of her questionable toxic actions, it's still wrong.

Yeah, if she doesn't change even without those "monster" on her head by the end of the arc, and still stick around the main group, then I'm gonna be disappointed, it's just borderline unhealthy, weird and creepy tbh, poor Hana and Miko.

Well, it's mostly we who know about her stalking habits, and are "guided" to guess what she's thinking, by shots of her after different info, but we mostly don't get the inside info, and as far as other girls see, she's just kinda reserved/aloof.
Miko sees her diferently, but she sees the Mr.Game&Watch as either extension of Michiru's feelings, or something that acts indepedently while reacting to Michiru's feelings (think Ugallu from Machikado Mazoku), I can see Michiru slowly toning the stares down as she's socialized/relieved and everyone being none the wiser.

I honestly want these freaky sisters to fuck off already. This whole arc just feels like filler. Strangers come in out of nowhere to monopolize Miko and the other freak wants her dead...

You heard it here first. When the tentacles are removed Miko will right away comment how beautiful Michiru is and fall for her. Michiru will probably calm down when the tentacles are removed, and start acting normal.

My theory is the more human the ghost is, the sanest they are, and the bloodborne abominations are the completely deranged
