I think MC is trying to break in our new oni member, everyone else had their bad traits about them, and MC slowly worked through them, they also earned their names. Our new oni memeber needs to do the same, if you can't listen to and protect your master in a dungeon, then you're dead weight and are going to get your master killed.

Web Novel Chapter 18 -> その名はメア。古い英語で夢魔を表す言葉だ。インプの進化先はいろいろと考えていたが、エンプーサにしたことでサキュバスを目指すことが確定したため、それに沿った名前とすることにした。 -> Her name is Mare, which is an old English word for Nightmare. I had been thinking of various ways for the Imp to evolve, but since I decided to make her Empusa, I decided to name her accordingly, since she was determined to become a Succubus.

And as per Google Search, The Old English term for nightmare is mære (or mare), which referred to a mythological female demon or goblin that sat on people's chests while they slept, causing feelings of suffocation and terror. This creature is the origin of the modern word "nightmare," which literally meant the "night-goblin" or "night-rider".

Though "メア" can be translated as "Mea", but that's a really uncommon name to begin with and means something else.

Also the Cards in this series are based on various mythical and religious lore's, which is why naming has to be maintained.

Personally, I think names shouldn't be translated/localized. Just because my real name means luck, I don't want people to use Luck to refer to me.
Since her name isn't the full word "Nightmare", I think "Mea" shouldn't be modified.

That's only when the name is the local language, not in other.

Japanese is a bit different in that, they have a "local language" terms as well as "non-local but localized" terms.

Like for example, the word "Nightmare" can be "ナイトメア (Naitomea)", "悪夢 / あくむ (Akumu)" or "夢魔 / むま (Muma)".

But "Muma" (the term used in the WN when talking about Mare's name) can also refer to incubus; succubus; demon appearing in a dream.

Also, in Japanese, when words are in Katakana, it just means they are foreign words, aka., you have to translate them with translated names.
