Were true ancestors a thing before Tsukihime?

I think the term is original to Type/Moon, but the idea has been around for awhile. The term "progenitor" to mean essentially the same thing has been circulating for some time, too.

Likely, they probably know she typically only retaliates rather than instigates. I don't know why they'd assume though. It's like pointing a loaded revolver at your head and "assuming" the current chamber is empty.

well, Type-Moon stole the concept from Vampire: The Masquerade which started in 91, dunno if theres lineage to before that, but thats the earliest i know of that Vampires get weaker the more distant the relation to the person who first became a vampire was.
