Something just felt off about that illustrator's style in this for me.

Compare: Overwrite, Isekai sister, Jirai-kei Kanojo, or the illustrations he posted to Twitter.

Well, maybe it's just because of the mainly darker colour palette in this series.

Just for clarification, that's the LN's illustrator. Different from the person drawing the manga.

The second she agreed to join the prince, I could already tell that this manga is going to turn to shit. She's made out to be this smart and rational character but instantly caves to the prince despite not being under any pressure, knowing full well she's going to be involved in the succession war. Her family doesn't like or care about her in any real sense either.

She's an assassin that is for the most part working with the guild who seems to keep the power balance of the kingdom in the "good" side, what part of "ignoring/rejecting the prince's invitation in public" doesn't show "being under pressure"?

Does the author have a thing for horrible dialog? Every other dialog feels as if the characters brain has just left the universe. Sigh

Such a nice premise ruined by subpar writing.

I don't know how this can be seen as "subpar writing" like bruh it reads normally if you consider who is saying it and what they are talking about... the prince being suspicious about a noble girl acting like she's not a noble girl.


The most funny thing about some of the complaints here is they both want the writing to be somehow simplistic and complicated at the same time...

I pretty much said that sex sells and so that is the reason the artist/publishing decision was already set in stone, before the characters personality and behavior would ever be considered.
But thanks for proving my point? Sexy because sexy assassin, no other reason, glad we agree. Also modern gun, because boxy and easy to draw.

I already expanded on my point in another lengthy post, so I'll just refer to that.

I also don't care what other people complain about, I have my complaints about the haphazard dialog, which I don't see much complexity in, besides maybe being hard to translate well from WN to Manga, or Japanese to English.
I mean the prince literally spells out his intentions, so subtlety is also out of the window.

Not gonna highlight your long overly nothing explanation buuuuut you mentioned "promo cover" and just say how weirdly you got the reasoning for the cover art correct yet somehow stumble backwards towards it, with your whole sex sells and "gun is easier to draw". The sex sells part I don't even want to comment about 'cause it's funny that you're crucifying this series for that even though it's not the only one doing that since as I've already mentioned sarcastically being drawn "sexy" is like the general standard for female assassins in manga/ln since authors love to use that as a tactic for assassination. As for the "gun is easier to draw" and why I call out your complaining of that, it's a weapon that is usually used by assassins(albeit it's missing a silencer at least), and if you really think a gun is easier to draw than a knife that's interesting to say the least... The funny part of you complaining about how "garbage" the gun looks like is it's as if you're thinking it's a special weapon that should look good or something.

If the reasons you've given should be taken as truth and author/artist is being lazy... man does that mean over 85% of the artists and authors are just "being lazy"?

Yeah and as someone who don't particularly care about this series you know what I got from that vol2 cover? That they're trying to show that there's a time skip of sorts because of how MC look and the weapon she's holding, which based on another comment I've seen here seems to be the case. Not "oh man the artist/author is being lazy and just trying to bait people with a sexy art of the MC"... 'cause you know it's the 2nd Vol and no level headed person picks up a 2nd volume of a series they aren't already reading just because the cover is a "sexy bait"(unless it's an art book since those also comes in "volumes").

Anyways... I see why the others seem to disengage from your further explanation...

The manga volume 1 is scheduled for October.

Well, there it is. This first prince Evan is highly likely the reincarnation of the man she killed and who killed her past self. No wonder he knew what the eyes of a killer looked like. He didn't outright propose engagement yet, but I'm sure this is heading in that direction. It would be a bigger surprise to me if he didn't turn out to be a love interest and was getting engaged to someone else.
