Hmmmm…I wonder if the manga is gonna try a different thing. The novel version of events were different.

Web novel version
Tigur isn’t there. Romance between Evan and Serena a bit forced with Evan taking Serena’s first kiss. And then Serena saying things like “you better stay by my side to watch over me.”

Light novel version
Tigur is there and he convinces Serena that what she feels is more in line with her favorite toy. So Evan gets stuck as her personal toy. Evan by the end of volume 2 still can’t romance Serena. Tigur acts like a first line of defense against all romance for Serena. Serena still keeps treating Evan normally. The King and Queen are disappointed how slow Evan is at trying to romance Serena.

Also I just remembered. The dog is still alive and well while staying with Serena’s family.

Edit: I took a look at the manga raw.
Ch19.5 is a flashback to Serena’s past life and her assassin teacher. Ch20 just heads straight into LN volume 2 plot. Tigur basically attempts to hurt Evan whenever Evan tries to get close to Serena, claiming he was trying to get rid of an insect near Serena.

So manga just simply went for the Evan is gonna teach her more about emotions rather than trying to romance her. So he ends up failing to romance her because he’s trying to help Serena understand emotions with Tigur acting as the first line of defense against romance. Evan is basically the source of his own failure here.

This whole relationship with Evan feels very forced and boring. I know we're playing the whole angle of MC not understanding romance and/or feelings in general, but I see absolutely nothing in their relationship that would have changed any of that or that would make her particularly attached to him in any capacity :shamihuh: sigh...

Typical for any sorta manga adaption of a wn/ln series. They're less a translation and more an opportunity to redo the story Interested in how things diverge from here. Not that it'll stop people from trying to predict.

Honestly? I think this development makes sense. If you replace Evan with Tigur the outcome would probably be the same (sort of, maybe she'd be twice as angry).
