I agree with @MawMaw.
90 seconds worth of specially-composed OP theme VS something minutes long cut into an OP is a fake comparison. The longer song may lose fair and square as an OP, but it might have several tracks or moments within the song that people start evaluating as well.

I can already see "neither one does it for me but the latter is more interesting overall, so that gets my vote."

Not so fairand.

Anime openings are cut to ~90 seconds as that's the standard time, yes. But with that cut, they also rely on visuals to make them more appealing, and the parts that make it into the cut are selected because said parts would be best suited to enhance visuals.

As this is specifically a music tournament, I think anime openings should be submitted in their fully recorded forms, as cut versions are cut specifically to enhance visuals and meet time requirements.

yeah but since its an anime opening theme, I think its fair if we use it-[insert saying basically what I say before]-afterall those specifically composed song is what peek our interest to the song in the first place.

They don't necessarily rely on visuals, often it's the complete reverse right? The OP visuals look dead without the catchy tune. But my interpretation of the "Anime Opening" music was that we would submit songs that were good in the opening, not that the song was good in the soundtrack.

But I guess regardless of this the submissions will be a mix of full / OP versions no matter what agreement we come to. And there probably won't be a good song submitted that has a full version which isn't harmonious with the OP. So it doesn't really matter. But it's not an argument without merit.

Lol, should we start another poll? Either option is good, yeah, I just think that the full versions are the ones that count as actual 'full tracks'.

I'd say that they usually go hand-in-hand.

Why not just split the difference?
Two separate brackets of 32 songs each, running in parallel?
32 TV-size openings and 32 full-size openings?

Of course, there would need to be an additional rule that the same opening theme cannot show up in both brackets (TV-size and full-size).

Well, I guess the most logical thing to do would be to make a poll.

@Mr_Detective
Would you like to make one? Or should one of us make it?

Why not have both then?
Rate by quality then use.
A compromise then.

Look, @Richman, you knew the Rules of Nature when you started listening to the soundtrack.
Though A Stranger I Remain to you, The Only Thing I Know For Real is that even if your physical body Returns to Ashes, the intangible object known as A Soul Can't Be Cut.
It may look like Dark Skies ahead, but eventually the Red Sun will rise again, so just keep telling yourself, "I'm My Own Master Now."
And yes, It Has To Be This Way.

Uhm... Why do you guys have to make it needlessly complicated?

- I don't see a problem with including cartoons from other countries as well. If someone think Family Guy or Lucky Luke has a good opening song, they should be allowed to submit it. I don't think many people will submit non-anime songs, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
- OVA/movies are also part of the anime. Yes, they should be allowed.
- Honestly, there's no point in using the short version in the anime openings. The full version is where you see everything the song has to offer. The anime version is edited/cut so it won't be too long and take away time from the main program: the anime's story. If we're gonna judge a song, we should judge it by itself, the whole package. It's like judging a game based on a demo, and not the full game.
- We judged these battle songs not by the battles they were used in, but how good they sound without context. Same goes for these opening songs.
- No, it's a bad idea to have two brackets of full-size and TV-size. That will require each person to submit 2 of each type, which is a limitation I do not like to impose. And you'll have two full-size and TV-size tracks in the final eventually. Unless you want to have 2 separate tournaments for each, it's not a good idea.

If you wanna vote, just do it here. Why do you need another thread? It's just a handful of us discussing and making decision anyway, lol.

@justforthelulz @bigtiddyoneesan I thought people would recognize and understand the greatness of Yandere-chan. But no. Too bad, I didn't have anyone's bank account to bribe them.

Personally, I expected Kami's Lookout, Valstrax, Falz, Persona, and Bipolar to go further in. Found some good tracks, though.

I already had to vote against myself in the semifinals; I sure as hell wasn't going to do so again in the finals.
But you have to admit, that the winner was a track named "Ultimate Final Boss" is quite fitting, no?

Thank you for this logic, Detective-san. This is akin to what I was trying to explain earlier. I like cut versions too, but this tournament specifically would work better with full versions. Also, I do recognize the greatness of Yandere Yuno, and I fucking love yanderes, but Spark the Electric Justforthelulz was just too rad. 😎

Alright, real talk everyone. This isn't my vote, but how far do you think Renai Circulation would go in the tournament?
