We can see her mask slipping when Senpai almost left, and we see the mask fell after Senpai confessed. She is just like her Senpai, mentally unable to socialise properly.

Yep, it really gives an impression that serialized version will end with this scene. Maybe next summer, when they will be in 3rd and 2nd grade respectively.
Holy Fucking Shit, this man saw it coming from the 5th dimension.

P.S. I enjoyed your essay and it made me think about why I enjoyed the webcomic again, because compared to the serialization this Nagatoro is brutal (even though some wimps still dropped out of the serialization like 2 chapters in). But I think that this Nagatoro's brutality adds to her character, this webcomic is if Sempai had his masochist switch turned up to 100 and Nagatoro her sadist switch up to 100 and it makes these small chapters a fun read. Nagatoro's brutality then makes it even cuter when she eventually crumbles and reaffirms her love for Sempai. I've thought about it before and I'd describe it as "Higher Highs and Lower Lows".

woah, I wrote something like that? And somebody actually read it? Feels like an embarassment bomb from the past
😅
I remember, author was commenting on webcomic's "brutality"...ah, found it https://mangadex.org/chapter/c89f8691-4397-442f-8823-4e8d61ace796/1 This is the only case in serialization where senpai gets his butt kicked. Well, as I don't like physical violence, and her most violent pranks in serialization die off pretty early, I like the serialisation more (and I like the recent confession scene there very much). But, as author says in the omake I linked, these pre-ser stories are done. They can be considered as some separate alternate-reality kinda stories. Or more like one finished short story about overly brutal girl who crumbles at the moment of confession, ha-ha. You've got it. As for me, these sketches were interesting as a history of how Nagatoro came to life, and to serialization
