I'm not even going to get into the issue of whether the main heroine and hero will become a couple or not. I've seen worse, but I can understand people disliking it, and honestly it still looks like if it happens it'll be quite a while longer.

The one thing I want more of is Kaori. The story seems to be doing something that seems a little rare: it's making her sound like she didn't simply see Reito as a tool to get money from. She's still clearly very shallow and was far too easily swayed by claims of stability and wealth. But when she learned that the "cheap" place he always took her to was actually $500 minimum, her thought wasn't "maybe I made a mistake" or "maybe he was better than I thought" but "maybe I was cruel to say that to him". It's not a huge difference, but it is a difference. It suggests that rather than simply regretting dumping a guy who's clearly wealthy, she instead regrets insulting him for being cheap when he was working so hard for her. She's still got a long way to go, and it's questionable whether she'll make that journey, but I could see her actually giving a sincere apology. And please don't misunderstand, I'm not saying that I think they could or should get back together. For something like that to happen I'd expect at least as much time as anyone here would want before Reito and Karen get together, since she too clearly needs to grow up and demonstrate how she's changed. What I want isn't for her to date him again, but for her to express remorse and contrition and then move on to live the life she made for herself. Preferably without that Katsuki bastard, who clearly doesn't show any signs of that sort of regret or uncertainty. But that's just me and my love of contrition. I'm fine with bad people suffering for their mistakes, but I'd much rather them seek or welcome such suffering as payment for their actions.

Getting angry with her parents just because they sold her into criminality and sexual exploitation - she's such a KAREN!

1.) I don’t think any of their ages are listed, but even if they were, 18 & 24 is still weird.
2.) What is with y’all niggas calling me a PDF 😭 The logic doesn’t even make sense, how would seeing an 18 year old as a kid (which I never said, it was the age gap that was the issue) make me a pdf 😭? y’all be projecting like crazy ngl.
2.) 6 year age gap isn’t that big when they’re both adults in the same stage of life. 24 and 18 is an adult either working full time, or nearing the end of college. 18 is still a highschooler, or a freshman in college at best. 24 and 18 isn’t the same as 30 and 36.
3.) Yes they’re both young but that doesn’t mean that it’s okay. By this exact logic, since 18 and 12 are still “kids” scientifically, it’s okay? The logic just doesn’t follow. And the next sentence you literally contradicted yourself by saying mental development ends at 25 or 26. Being 1 or 2 years away from completely mentally developed is not even close to being a kid.

And to add a few points:
1.) The story very much suggests the fmc being at most 18. And that’s only because it’s stated that her parents abandoned her. The clothes she’s wearing and her speech makes her seem 16-18. The MMC being 24 doesn’t sound very plausible given he was preparing to retire with his financee after marrying. Realistically, this places him in late 20s or early 30s

2.) Even if their ages are as you listed, the MMC calls her a kid multiple times. So in his eyes, she shouldn’t even be considered a romantic or sexual interest. The story would have to shift from him seeing her as a kid to someone like that, which is weird!!
Both characters clearly state their ages in the manga, so there’s no need to argue this point. Kid is also a term thrown around all the time, even the MC is referred to as a kid by his friends. And you can’t be serious comparing someone whois 18 vs 12. Eighteen by law is considered an adult everywhere, there shouldn’t even be a argument here. You might find it creepy however in most cases you’d find it difficult discerning who was what age in the relationship.

So you misunderstood the point of my argument (the 18 and 12 one), and then gave a flimsy last sentence that has no real weight behind it. What was the point in even commenting atp

If you think "Why isn't everyone using magic stones if they are so OP?" Just think of how many countries don't use nuclear power or ACs or don't put their criminals into prison or don't stop illegal immigration for good or...

You get it, people as a collective are stupid.

Wow, people complaining about an 18 & 24 y/o for 7 pages. No wonder the world is going down the road of Japan birth rate decline if you have to be born the same week as your love interest for social acceptance.

This manga is alright but doesn't really have a lot going for it. It could have easily leaned more heavily into the grooming-your-protege aspect by making FMC a third year middle schooler and filling the series with ecchi. This series is overall pretty bland except for the government workers being set up as the antagonists. But I bet Kirito will surprise you and overcome all odds!

Seems like their complaint isn't them getting together, it's them getting together right now as, like they said, we're dealing with someone who should still be in high school and someone who normally would be a new office worker and in actuality is a long-term veteran in his field. I don't know about the claims of pedophilia, but I can see both sides as far as their relative stations. To put it frankly, she's not yet in a position to take care of herself. He could take care of himself easily even if he didn't have half Japan's GDP in his bank account, but she's still just made it to the sort of level you'd expect high school students and early college students to be. That is, I'd guess she's able to make about as much as you'd get in a generous part-time job, and she's still extremely new to taking care of herself. If they were to start dating now and get married, she'd be completely dependent on him. Setting aside questions of whether 18 is "adult" or not, she needs to reach a point where she's at least able to live independently if she chose, even if she never does.

I'm still just hoping we get a little more on the Kaori issue honestly, I know I'm just dragging this up for no reason but still. Ideally, I'd have Katsuki find out that Kaori was fired, hear why the boss fired her, and flip out realizing her very job was dependent on Reito. He'd reveal his paycut and dump her because there's no way he can support himself AND her on such low income. He'd probably even blame it all on Kaori, maybe telling her how wealthy and influential Reito is or maybe leaving her all the more confused. Without a job or a fiance, she has nowhere to turn and starts desperately searching for some way to support herself. At that point could have her see Reito again, or meet with her friend who introduced them, or somehow come across Karen and learn of her connection to Reito. Any such situation would be the perfect setup for her to finally find out the whole truth, how filthy rich Reito is, how far Adventuring is from her image of bottom-feeding bums, how very much of Reito's work had been for the specific purpose of giving her a happy, peaceful future. Apology would be inevitable there, as well as her going into adventuring herself. And then she could seek his advice for teachers, maybe end up studying under his former comrade just like Karen. Wouldn't be easy, like Maria I can't see a friend of Reito's showing any restraint or mercy toward her, but frankly she'd probably need a Spartan treatment as much as she deserves it.
