I don't get why the Japanese are so fond of mimikaki. The last time that I went to the doctor to have my earwax removed, it was so uncomfortable and unnerving that all the hairs in my body were standing for the whole duration of the procedure. Maybe it depends on the skill of the person, the tool used to do the job, the insertion depth, or perhaps the volume of earwax involved.
Ok, i wanna add my piece, but that
mimikaki is kinda a daily occurrence for me cuz yes my earwax is dry and also if left alone for long (say months) it'll start to get itch or worst blocked the ear resulting in (depend on the severity) somewhat hearing loss (like vol down, but not much), also my dad had that wet earwax and he hate
mimikaki like it's the most uncomfortable thing to do purposely.
Also, my place only had cotton bud so it's kinda infuriating to clean for me but is doable for my dad, like the cotton is so soft that it can't scrape off dry earwax but soft enough to pick wet earwax without much effort and little pressure.
About tolerance, maybe it's just because I'm used to it and my ear is not that sensitive so it's a pleasant feeling, but ofc the deeper inner part are off limit cuz they are more sensitive and only permitted for me or any trusted individual. so it's more about ymmf kind of thing which people with dry earwax mostly enjoy it more.
I don't know what to compare this to (i do have my piece but it's real freaky, so no)
