My guess it’s around a 3 to 4 your age gap at most six considering how she refers to him

And I don’t think it helps that this artist draws their characters really young looking

Because the twins look like they’re 12
In a story or two I've read, nii can also be used to refer to an uncle figure.

But everywhere so far, Warrena refers to Ellie as his childhood friend --- not his childhood friend's daughter --- and Ellie says they were both kids that grew up together. So, I think it's fairly safe to say they're close enough in age for a romantic relationship to not be weird.

So...nothing terribly conclusive, but Ellie at least looks like an adult instead of a child like the children do.

The premise was good...until I heard MC saying he wants to have a show life.

He could burn it down the entire kingdom who betrayed him and left him without any fortune, but no. He easily accepts that, doesn't talk to any of his subordinates who could make a coup and punish the princess for breaking the contract.
The dumbest thing about a story like this, is that it's obviously going to happen...Just, without the MC spearheading it.
Why else would the NTR-princess show up, visibly cussing at the MC? Why else would chapter 1 take the time to paint the higher-ups as straightup villains?
It's just obvious that it's the author's fetish to have his MC suffer injustice, and have a strong woman dom / disrespect him. I actually know people like that, who love these types of stories, specifically for these reasons. It doesn't even begin to surprise me.
It's just written in such a poor way, where it'd be fine if you wanted a get-fucked MC --- but at least don't have him be a war-winning commander who, as you said, has the back-and-call of a whole battalion of soldiers who'd give their lives to protect him. A person who should, on all accounts, be aware of how much of a threat he is....Know what, I already wrote too much. Ya'll get the point. I'm out.

P.S: I'll just say, none of ya'll commented on how the childhood friend pretended to cry, and was then visibly smiling while hiding her face, against the table. An obvious manipulative bitch, after being cucked by another one.
So, yeah, this is obviously the author's fetish.

Ellie is retarded, if it was just Meg living with him then Ellie would be somewhat justified in making an assumption like that, but she completely ignored the fact that Bill, her twin brother was standing right next to her. Common sense would tell anyone that those kids are with him due to circumstances, yet her dumbass completely ignored every bit of that common sense just for the sake of simping 🤦🏾‍♂️

I mean, realistically, the dude found out his fiance cheated on him while he was "at war" and then traveled for a month. It's understandable that he hasn't had time to process the betrayal. It can take years of therapy for serious cases (long term relationships) and even in short-term cases it can still ruin your self-esteem and make it hard to trust other people

One bad thing is that as usual the super strong MC get exiled for retarded reasons. No sane nation would squander such an important resource as a heroic, super strong commander.

I just hope the MC will end up being happy, I don't care about retribution...
That was my favorite part of a novel I was reading. MC was betrayed by his Fiance (childhood friend) who joined the Hero's party. While she was on that journey, MC trained and became the 11th S-Rank in the Guild. They established that the difference between S-Rank and A-Rank is "S-Ranks have the power to deform the surrounding terrain" and are basically one-man armies. It was even revealed that he was trying to make her journey go faster so he recruited two other S-Ranks who were bored and tried to go kill the Demon King themselves. Which they succeeded in, thousands of times, until the Demon King begged them to leave him alone since he couldn't be killed by anyone but the Hero and it traumatized him (and the Hero's party still struggled to kill him).

So when it came out that the "weak childhood friend" she'd been cheating on was this powerhouse of an Adventurer, the King literally punished both of them (and the Knight Commander who was sent to help keep them in line) and begged the MC to not blame the kingdom because they didn't know about the betrayal until they returned from the quest.

It was really refreshing seeing that the powerhouse MC was valued over the significantly weaker Hero. (tbf, the Hero was said to be top of A-Rank, but that's just how significant of a gap there is between S and A Ranks)

After the betrayal, he ran off and met up with some people that knew him and the ex-Fiance, trying to cheer him up they stopped by a town to go on a low-stakes quest, but MC (who's still not widely known in this area) has the standard "stopped by a tough adventurer for being with cute girls" scene and just flat out tosses the dude through the wall of the guild. The branch master storms down to find out what's going on and demands that he speak to her in her office and he goes "no. I'm going on a quest with my friends. He can explain what happened when he wakes up. We'll talk when I get back." She's dumbfounded and tries to assert her authority as a branch master and says she'll stop him by force if she has to. He literally goes "You're not strong enough. Even if you got all the adventurer's in this town to work together, I'd be able to wipe this town off the map in under 5-minutes. Now, I'm going on a quest with my friends. We'll speak when I get back." While he's gone she gets the report that he's the newest S-Rank and gets reprimanded for trying to assert authority before getting the full story. (she was literally just promoted to branch master and didn't want to seem like a pushover, which backfired because she couldn't read the room.)
It's seriously refreshing to see an OP MC act in a way that shows they know they're OP. Apparently, he's on the weaker end of S-Rank too. But we haven't seen another S-Rank yet in the story

I'm going to assume that somehow the kingdom that exiled him will burn but... I don't know if I want to see any revenge. To be honest, I don't recall the last manga that had a revenge that was both "proportionate" and "well done"
Revenge things usually either go off the super cringe, excessive and exxagerated revenge story (say, Redo healer) or end up being just unsatisfactory.
...
A YT video of a Real Life "Proportional" response...

A fiancee cheating on her betrothed is a basic level of NTR.
There is an argument about what has to be present for it to be "NTR". Some include any infidelity. Some include BSS (basically, "I liked her first"). To me it needs intent to steal and acknowledge two-directional romantic connection.

This page on Japanese with Anime has a really nice explanation.

aint that what ntr is
........is that not the same thing?

Bro what??
That's literally what NTR is........🤦🏾‍♂️
As in my post immediately above.

At the end of the page referenced there we see the difference. "Normal Cheating" is:

Uwaki 浮気

The term uwaki 浮気 is a general term for "infidelity," or "fooling around (with other women, etc.)"

The words netoru, netorare, netorase carry the nuance of "taking" someone from someone else, which is normally unnecessary. So uwaki would be the normal word for extramarital relationships, cheating, and so on.

What is up with Japan and children bro. This lady sees the MC with two children and her FIRST THOUGHT is that he's dating the child??? There's something seriously wrong with you if you see a dude and a child next to each other and instantly think the dude's a pedophile.
This is just par for the course in JP. Just be glad that he hasn't adopted her and is raising her as a daughter.
Also.. How old is that "childhood friend"? Is she the same age as him? How old is he, for that matter?
Exactly. He's been fighting for the kingdom for 20 years, so rational guess would put him at 35. So that puts her at close to that age. (Wayyy past age matrimony.)

Plus the whole setup is nonsense:
  • Legendary level hero and they kick him to the curb, rather than continue to use him.
  • Is 35 and hasn't even held hands with his fiancee. (JP most the world does not have your freakish squeemishness about sexual relations.)
  • Is "betrayed" but is 35, but we see zero indications of any sort of care for the princess.
  • Apparently without a woman (absurd for highly successful medieval knight).
  • 3rd princess gets pregnant out of wedlock, but that's not an issue.
  • Princesses' are political currency. She would have been used that way. Not married off to a commoner.
  • The dude is legendary knight, and his men saw him alive and returned to the capital. Then he suddenly "dies" in a way that they know is a lie. Yeah, no one will believe that, and news will spread.
  • All the kingdom had to do is buy him off, and keep him in his job.
  • He's out in the middle of nowhere, with no one else around. No nearby town. Yet the house is still standing and even has a rutted driveway to it.
  • And he's suddenly going to become a farmer with no experience as such, no seedstock, no knowledge of local agriculture.
