Rhito really just had to let her know again, his own boundaries. I do find it funny this trope is TV that a character will do something, but when somebody else does what they do normally. They get uncomfortable. It's like they are afraid of how irresponsible their actions might be, so they don't want someone to explicitly show how bad it is.

It's not even a trope - this is completely real and normal. Everyone has their own boundaries and we're only capable of viewing things from our own perspective. You won't notice it until it happens to you, but it could be as simple as someone putting their hand on your shoulder, or reaching across your field of view, who knows. It's like tickling someone vs being tickled - you might not feel anything in particular doing it to someone but hate it when it happens to you.

Ngl I feel like a lot of this chapter was justified in how it escalated, being face to face w/ someone your conscious of would normally make you a bit awkward and more likely to stumble (plus ears are sensitive, and she’s expecting pain so like a lot of senses going off), it’s defo played up since manga but I mean it fits her personality to get flustered in an unintentionally erotic way lol.

honestly i don't really see the tension that some people have been commenting about? i don't really see her that way (more so i look at her as a cute girlfailure that just cant get a partner ever) so maybe that's why i'm indifferent about it

This chapter was to show once and for all that she sees him as a man since she gets nervous around him (which is usually a very common subject in romcoms), that her ears are a sensitive point and that the whole situation with the ear piercing serves as a metaphor for sex and virginity.
